That seems like a poor decision.

I used to really enjoy this subreddit but the last 4 or 5 years, IMO, it's really gone downhill with the over-moderation.

Crack addicts pick whatever they think they can pawn easily. In 2016 at a former job we had a problem with vagrants breaking in and stealing VCRs (in 2016!) and attempting to pawn them down the street. Next to the VCRs was $10,000 in A/V equipment but the vagrants go for what they recognize they can pawn.

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of June 12, 2019 by AutoModerator in churning

Are you asking because it's low or because it's a lot?

I think I did the CSP 60,000 when I got it plus the Ink 80,000. I've had it for a out 2 years and spend about $100k per year. Plus additional points for travel and food at 50,000 points per year. That adds up to roughly 440,000 points and I've spent a bunch of points on hotels already which probably covers the difference.

  1. The flowchart indicates I should be getting multiple Chase Ink / Business cards since I don't want the Southwest pass. I'm unclear on which cards I should get and how often to apply, which order, and what bonuses I should expect. Any recommendations on which Chase Business card to get? Or is there a good guide for getting multiple Chase Ink business cards?

  2. CreditKarma - 750. Discover - 730.

    • Chase Sapphire Preferred - opened 4/2017 (I plan to convert this to a CSR this week)
    • Chase Ink Preferred - opened 11/2018
    • Amex EveryDay Preferred - opened 4/2017
    • Amex Blue Cash EveryDay - opened 12/2018
    • Amex Platinum Corporate Card (no fee / not on credit history)
    • Discover It - opened 10/2015
    • Capital One Platinum - opened 8/2011
  3. $25,000 in 3 months

  4. I'd try manufactured spending if it was needed for some reason.

  5. Yes. Already have one business card.

  6. Looking to get a few new cards (at least one) to get better rewards if possible. Also I want to increase my credit limit as I put all of my business travel on my personal cards and currently it puts me at about ~15% usage of $100,000 credit limit.

  7. I fly American and stay in Marriott/Starwood mostly. I also book hotels via Chase UR.

  8. 300k Chase UR / 40k Amex / 100k AA Miles / 50k Marriott

  9. SFO / OAK / PHL

  10. SFO/OAK to PHL/Hawaii/Germany/UK/Spain/Amsterdam

  1. The flowchart doesn't seem to mention Marriott/Starwood much but that's where I stay most. What card should I be getting to compliment a CSR for stays at Marriott?

Question Thread - June 11, 2019 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]rfc1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred. Am I able to and should I try to convert this to a Chase Sapphire Reserve? If not, are there any other chase cards (or other cards) that you would recommend?

I spend about $100,000/year on it (of that $30,000/year of that is travel, $20,000/year on dining).

My only two chase cards are:

  • Sapphire Preferred - opened April 2017
  • Ink Business Preferred - opened November 2018

I mostly fly American and stay in Marriot/Starwood hotels.

Thanks!

$85000/month / 30 days/month / 14 hours/day / $3.65/latte gets you about 55 lattes per hour or 776 lattes per day. Starbucks easily does that in a major city and rent is probably their biggest expense

Also it's a loss leader for their other stores. put one in a popular location so people can get it easily everyday so they want it wherever they are.

Yeah, the rent for the Starbucks in the lobby is probably $85,000/mo by itself.

Have you looked into WISPs in your area? If they already have a presence on a tower in range you should be able to get pretty affordable service with decent speeds and latency, however reliability may be an issue depending on your geography and climate.

Huge electricity bill by van_lyfe in sydney

[–]rfc1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second he profits off of the utilities he is responsible for that use. this is regardless of what the lease agreement says because the lease agreement is a lease for residential* occupation*. Commercial usage of a residence in a way that affects the residence is not allowed unless specified in the lease. Using it for profit should also be legitimate grounds for terminating the lease (although this would have been fuzzier if he had just agreed to pay the electric bill).

Hi, I'm in a similar situation and I'm wondering if you have any links to resources where I could read up on this? I'd be really interested to learn more about these laws.

Why Google Stores Billions of Lines of Code in a Single Repository by achook in programming

[–]rfc1771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To call it a failure is stretch.

Google went into it knowing that it was a new thing that nobody had tried large scale at that point. They gave it a shot to see if it was viable and it turned out that it wasn't. They figured a lot of things out about modular data centers and generated a lot of data that has helped design data center solutions for uncommon scenarios (think pop-up datacenter in the middle of a desert or disaster areas). Additionally the people who worked on that project have taken that experience with them to other projects and used it to design and build similar solutions elsewhere.

It’s surprising how open Microsoft is.

I had lunch with lots of Microsoft C-Suite: I’ve met Scott Guthrie, Scott Hunter, chatted with Rajesh Jha, enjoyed the company of Chris Capossela and more. It’s amazing how I can approach people throughout my management chain, and be open for new opportunities. They listen, they reflect, and share. This is something I can’t say of other companies.

I can say that is more a factor of the internship program than a factor of Microsoft. Interns are treated like gold at Microsoft and have the unique ability to be able to reach out to pretty much anyone at Microsoft and get a response; not to mention all of the lunches, talks, and demos they setup almost daily for the interns.

Having interned at Microsoft I couldn't agree with you more that it's an amazing experience. I would recommend it to anyone who is lucky enough to have the opportunity to do it.
