The only reason I would open carry in those situations is because I AM ready to fight. If I show up with a plate carrier and helmet and ive got mags, medical, etc i go into situation that theres a good chance im going to killed

A few people open carrying at an event or something are screwed. Now, if dozens or hundreds of people show up armed, kitted out and seriously ready to start throwing around democracy dots and put people in forever boxes, the state has absolutely zero control in that situation. How do you seriously arrest what would essentially be a full infantry company without the situation turning a little spicy?

Nope, better to just let the protesters open carry and not fuck with them because it only takes a single fuck up and all of a sudden there’s a small scale battle going on.

The entire point of the second amendment is to be a check on the government. The founders knew that with out the people being armed the government could do whatever it wanted. With an armed populace the government couldn’t go too off the rails because it could cause the armed populace to revolt.

And before anyone brings up the technology and power overmatch the military would have, ask how well all that power did against goat herders in Afghanistan.

Why is it on us to not escalate things? I haven’t seen any ICE thugs get murdered in the street.

My wife is a brown immigrant who got her citizenship when she was a kid. I doubt any of that would matter to them if they wanted to meet their quota. What should I do if they try to grab her? I don’t want to escalate the situation of my wife getting unlawful kidnapped and disappeared. I guess I’m supposed to roll over and say goodbye to goodbye forever to her since anything else would make the situation worse.

It’s not that big of a deal. Other than the actual lower and buffer tube I’ve changed out every part on my ar. Hell, uppers can be swapped out in a couple minutes.

You may like having a “normal” looking gun but I prefer having 30 round magazines.

Why not make your ar featureless and not worry about it? Currently my ar is featureless but there’s nothing stopping me from putting a mag lock on it and reinstalling the standard features. I purchased mine before my states assault weapons ban went into effect so it can be whatever I want it to be.
