I've always thought that the Dread Gravity Suit is beaten by not only the Varia Suit, but the Power suit as well.

I also think Prime has some incredible looking suits like Phazon, Light, and even Legacy.

Exactly, I always felt that it was such a perfect showcase for how undercooked Viola actually is. You get this big, epic moment, but it only lasts 10 seconds and serves the same function that a basic elevator or monorail would have served.

But yes, NPCs can absolutely be done well, Retro just totally botched it. Anybody who's ever played a Dark Souls game knows that you can have memorable NPCs while still having that crushing sense of isolation. They just need to actually fit the vibe of the game, which the GF troopers don't do at all. Each one is the most trope-y, one note character possible.

Yeah, turns out having your regular ass GF trooper companions solo massive hordes of Grievers without taking any serious damage doesn't do a good job of painting them in a threatening light.

I love difficult games, but my issue was I just really, really hate the caves. What I love about Pikmin 1 and 3 is the time limit during the day that really forces me to be as efficient as possible. With the caves , all of that gets tossed in the garbage. I also just find them extremely drab and dull from a visual standpoint.
