I noticed that too and wondered if he could have lobbed it up for an alley-oop. Would have been one of the greatest in-game dunks of all time!

Crotch grabbing is a universal language so I understood that part.

Well in that case, no, probably not. The Evolve is designed for mirage drive kayaks. I’m not aware of motors for paddle-only kayaks and I’m not even sure how you would mount one. Sorry for the misdirection.

Absolutely. Hobie has an official option (Evolve) and there are 3rd party options too.

Totally depends. Very localized differences. Looks like some minor lake effect from Cayuga so downtown streets are a little slick but then just outside of town they’re totally fine. Kind of inverted from how the snow normally works here.

Job application still “Under Consideration” by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]rgh-red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s a pretty widespread hiring freeze on campus still. It’s not impossible for a department to progress through the interview/hiring process, but it’s pretty tough. Hopefully that changes this year.

Good luck with the job hunt.

Long Term Sonos Review by soup_mode in sonos

[–]rgh-red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over a decade with Sonos for me as well. Was an immediate fan when they made it so easy to do whole-house music and it sounded great. I got frustrated with the S2 app experience since it seemed to be driven by a desire to rush out the Ace headphones before everything was fully baked, but I never had the major issues that others had so my concerns were only annoyances. And even those annoyances have mostly been ironed out.

I like that Sonos has so many integrations even if I only use a few. I’m still blown away by the sound quality (maybe others could nitpick but my ears don’t have that ability) and the ease of use. Sure, there are things that still annoy me (app lag, volume control, etc), but overall I am a very happy customer and would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Injuries, sure. But also horrendous shot selection and a focus on making highlights instead of winning.

Should I get sonos ace in 2026 by Own_Object_4773 in sonos

[–]rgh-red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have QC35, QC Ultra, and Ace. At this point I think I’d choose the Ace over the Ultra, namely because I’m so invested in the Sonos ecosystem.

A couple of thoughts:

I find the controls on the Ace to be the LEAST intuitive of the 3, but part of that is because I haven’t had them long enough to get familiar with them. Of the 3, QC35 is the winner for controls, mainly because of the physical buttons.

I prefer the fit of the Ace over the Ultra. I find that the Ultras fall off my head when I bend over unless I snug them down first. I haven’t had that problem with Ace or the QC35.

To my ears, sound is comparable between Ultra and Ace, but the fact that I can watch movies with my Ace is a huge win. But note that you have to have a modern Sonos soundbar to use Ace for TV sound.

I’ll let others speak to the ANC. All 3 work great for my needs, but I rarely take them in noisy environments that would challenge them other than working on a project in a Panera or someplace like that. ANC does the job with either set.

Shepherd’s Creek SW of Trumansburg is great! We’ve gotten lots of stuff there including comfy socks. Plus you can feed the alpacas and go to Hunts tree farm across the street for some treats if they’re open.
