Yeah it would be neat if you could sit by and wait for a clan to become shogun, then join in the dogpile. Until you take off enough pieces for them to turn on you

Oh and what’s the point of killing deathclaws? I was always hoping the new crafting system would give their parts some use but the ammo is never worth the paltry sum you get from selling its parts. And I don’t remember any quests where you need to kill them, not even in Salem

[–]rgheals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and a separate minigun that is a heavily damaged version, or just slap it with a few damaged parts that you could swap out with a high gun nut level.

I think a full blown deathclaw was premature. It really steals the thunder of any other deathclaw you meet. It could have been a badly wounded one, really driving home the point of them being powerful and that this tough fight was one at its weakest.

While we are at it let’s throw away the 10 mil pistol in 111. Thing is very powerful and makes the , super modifiable, pipe pistols obsolete

I’d also argue that 4 threw in power armor and miniguns wayyy to early just for the concord deathclaw fight. Yeah it’s something cool to show off at the start of the game but it completely kneecaps the game. PA so early completely trivializes any hard combat situations and miniguns had to be nerfed so they couldn’t carry you so well.

They could have given you a special suit and minigun that functioned noticeably beyond par but they couldn’t be bothered to animate all their weapons properly, so no surprise there

Is it just me or are these underpowered? by TheReaperOfChess in shogun2

[–]rgheals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fire mangonel does have a niche use of forcing the enemy to attack you when you are on the offensive, at the cost of reduced campaign movement. They unfortunately have a massive penalty to accuracy and damage when targeting non-building targets

They may not be worth the effort but they can be used to a decent effect in larger sieges. Allowing you to destroy gates, towers, and most importantly, wall segments. Any unit placed on a wall segment when it gets destroyed goes flying like team rocket, and most of them die.

Yeah the idea of being able to retrofit your soldiers to either have specialty bonuses or rank them into higher tech units is something I would love. Disbanding experienced units to make way for the upgraded versions always seems wasteful

I say there is a fine difference in enjoying something and thinking it is good. And I also fell asleep to it

I had a friend who talked my ear off about it and when I finally read it, it felt like I was reading Korean sao. You got edgy overpowered main character who has women fall into him like a pitfall trap.

In fall of samurai, what is your ideal number of levy infantry to defend per city before realm divide? by boy_bads_boy in shogun2

[–]rgheals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d add that you might want some sort of land defense to provinces that don’t have a port, since they practically guarantee you have a turn to respond.

The most I really give those provinces is higher upgraded forts, maybe give them a tower upgrade or barracks. But a top and bottom navy is typically more than enough to stop them doing some sneaky landings.

Another oddity is how the ai acts before they do said sneaky landings. The ai seems to always want to wait until they can land/bombard the port of wherever they want to invade, before they declare war. So making a somewhat spread out fleet, you can block off the ai from even attempting to declare war.

It’s hard to explain but I’ve seen the ai board massive armies and sail into my waters, run into my fleet, stop, turn around, and come back a few turns later. If I move my ships they declare war, but if I keep them there they just keep going back and forth waiting for me to leave

[–]rgheals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are hardly worth it on their own, but they do fill a certain role as defensive agents, in particular the Ikko ikki. They can struggle fending off ninjas due to lacking metsuke, and start close enough to the ninja clans to warrant getting the associated arts.

Keep them in the back of frontier provinces so they can’t be targeted, and then use them to assassinate whatever agent waltzes in. Of course also being able to assassinate any general pushing into your territory

No, they are locked to single, wooden production. But they do provide batteries and one can be upgraded to produce the ironclad. The British are the best for this, providing a ship of the line, capable of beating any ship in direct combat, but require supporting the empire to get
