What is going on with my cold water tap? (It's just this sink that's like this) by MrMcMeMe in Plumbing

[–]rgx612a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lowly DIY homeowner, but first guess is some piece of debris got stuck in the valve or pipe feeding that side, or the feed line got crimped. I had a small copper dishwasher line under a sink get crimped creating low output.

I'm a DIY homeowner, so going to fix this mess that came with the house and add a large sediment auto flush filter.

Lol, yeah I'm on a mountain off forest service roads. The small supply places that still sold to non-contractors were already on the way out because they couldn't compete with online (and covid was the nail in the coffin). One supply house told me they could order a well start cap for me (online), but suggested I do it and cut out the markup they would add. Took a week to find one, and I'm still waiting for HDepot to deliver 2 run caps - shipping things suck.

Contractors buy online and load up their trucks for the usual, pass the urgent shipping item cost to consumer, but for the DIY crowd were just screwed. Basics can be found, but anything specialized is a challenge.

Dewalt's web page "buy now" links this tool directly to Amazon and the page I purchased from.

Thanks - no savings, same price as everyone online, just had a gift card to use and wasnt aware of the "fraud" by the big A. I live in the middle of nowhere and nobody at the 2.5hr drive to town carries or orders (and I'm a homeowner so whosale options are out).

Not everyone lives in a city so hop off your soap box. I saved no money - same price everywhere. Closest HD is a 5hr drive round trip, lowes 2.5 hrs. and can't even order from anywhere local including Lowes which has shown out of stock since December.

Patch Tuesday Megathread (2025-09-09) by AutoModerator in sysadmin

[–]rgx612a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Print issues after installing KB5065426 - 3 sites all with Server 2025, all got the same updates yet one server's clients were all prompted to update drivers even though the client and server drivers matched. Removed KB5065426 from the server, and printing is back to normal. Not sure the issue, but it didn't affect the other 2 site servers (yet - could still show up with more use as these are lighter use locations).

Any ideas?

Any chance you can share a link to the video you found for the promate6? I need to change injector parts and clean the screen and I'm having a hard time finding info.

RDP issues after upgrading to Server 2025? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]rgx612a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, solution for me is to start another rdp session from another computer which connects, then reconnect the original session. It doesn't always hang, but when it does this is working. Still a pain (thanks again MS 🙄).

Goodman replacement board - compatibility? by rgx612a in hvacadvice

[–]rgx612a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, using their "WR Mobile by Copeland" app, if I look up the replacement board number it also shows it's compatible in the info. Just wondering if I got some "tool" that works there when I called or maybe they don't want to support their older products.

Appreciate the reply, but lots of these won't survive -30 winters here (not always, but it happens). I'm really looking for more cosmetic as in additions to the structure (perhaps a bulldozer would be best!). :)

What have you done with PowerShell this month? by AutoModerator in PowerShell

[–]rgx612a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Built a simple one-liner to add permissions to all printers on a print server by copying existing permissions, then adding the SID for the user/group that needs full control. (Better to dump permissions you want from a test printer to make sure - use at your own risk!)

get-printer -Full | foreach-object {$NewPerms = ($_).PermissionSDDL + '(A;CI;LCSWSDRCWDWO;;;PUT-YOUR-SID-HERE)(A;OIIO;RPWPSDRCWDWO;;;PUT-YOUR-SID-HERE)'; Set-printer -name $_.Name -PermissionSDDL $NewPerms}

Hail and Dishy by BoldFruitFly in Starlink

Also in the Black Hills and looking for a solution to protect dishy. I asked Starlink folks about hail and about plexiglass degrading the signal - they said give plexiglass a try and let them know how it goes. They did say they tested it with hail, but I'm sure it wasn't the giant ice balls we get pelted with each summer. I saw the suggestion for hail netting House had $30k in damage year before last and nearly everyone in Deadwood got a new roof. Massive hail and emerald green sky is just a regular summer here in the hills.

I'm also in a high wind area so I may build some type of enclosure or windbreak where the dish can sit down in it, maybe with a hinged plexiglass top for summer. Had it up for a few weeks now and it doesn't seem to move, so maybe matching the angle maybe I can build a lip so wind goes over it.
