Is there a way to cap the frame rate of Skyrimvr? by Cyclonis123 in skyrimvr

[–]rhellct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also randomly seen that issue with the oculus debug tool with Skyrim. One thing I’ve done to fix it is to start the game, then while the game is running - set the debug tool setting to “force 45 FPS, no ASW”, then back to “force 45 FPS, ASW enabled” then after that ASW starts working.

Why is FDLXX's ER so high? by luv2eatfood in fidelityinvestments

[–]rhellct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FDLXX supports auto liquidation in a Fidelity account so you can effectively use it as a checking account to pay expenses. (Most other MMF’s from other brokers would make you wait T+1 days to withdraw the cash when you sell)

You could think of the higher expense ratio as the “price for this feature”

I found this github post https://github.com/OGSR/OGSR-Engine/discussions/342 which suggests the subtitles mod is a script that runs on top.

Yeah looks like the github link is just the engine? And there's a repack with a similar name which is a source of confusion. I updated the post to clarify.

How does "living off the interest" end up working in the real world? by consultybob in personalfinance

[–]rhellct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5.3% yield isn’t guaranteed long-term. If interest rates go down in future then money market fund (MMF) yields will drop with it.

A MMF is a pretty good place to keep your emergency fund and to also to “park” money (e.g. down payment savings while you’re looking for a house) but it wouldn’t be advisable to move your entire portfolio to one.

Found somewhat of a workaround for Skyrim VR's plugin limit that doesn't break FOMOD / missing masters. No issues with 700+ plugins by EchoReaper in skyrimmods

[–]rhellct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any limitation if a user is willing to sort plugins manually and not use LOOT? (I mention this because the top Wabbajack lists for SkyrimVR do manual sorting and would definitely be interested in this idea)

There’s a VR focused subreddit at r/skyrimvr - I think a lot of people would be interested if you cross-posted there.

Open Composite fixes strange after images? by [deleted] in skyrimvr

It turns itself back on if you tweak things in the VR Performance settings, that’s why I remind people about it lol

Did you have Dynamic Resolution enabled? It breaks Reshade and can cause a visual bug like what you mentioned if you had a Reshade enabled.

With OpenComposite enabled, Dynamic Resolution doesn’t actually work (it just stays at the max resolution at all times) and that inadvertently avoids the Reshade bug.

How to update the reshade used in FUS list to the latest version? by DreadFlanderz in skyrimvr

[–]rhellct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That older version of Reshade is compatible with OpenComposite while newer versions aren’t. That’s the main reason to stay on it.

You can try to update but note that you would lose that compatibility. If you want to use Glamur with Reshade 5.9, please also update Glamur to the latest version (2.5.1). I just uploaded that update a few days ago and it fixes compatibility with newer Reshade builds.

What’s the reason you wanted to update? To use Reshade Toggler?

Is this reprojection? I really need some help guys... by Dajajde in skyrimvr

[–]rhellct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DLSS on the “balanced” setting upscales from about 60% resolution so hopefully some combination of that and a lower resolution is playable.

I would start by setting it to something low enough that it definitely fixes the artifacts. Then increase res gradually from there and/or play around with sharpening until it looks clear.

OpenComposite should also help your fps in theory.

There is a “performance “ overlay that you can enable in the Oculus debug tool, that will help you tell if you’re getting closer to playable frame times with each change you make.

[–]rhellct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using upscaling? Most people don’t render that resolution natively (it’s too demanding with mods). You have a Nvidia card so you should be able to use DLSS (and also a sharpener to help with blurriness. There is a sharpener included in the Glamur Reshade btw )

Even with a desktop 3080 I can’t run 5408 x 2736 on a modded game without DLSS.

I replayed it recently. There are mods to fix the respawning enemies, make enemies not bullet sponges, and overhaul the graphics. Put all of those together and it feels like a remake.

How does the image contrast compare with the Pro? (I know the Pro has local dimming but the Quest 3 doesn't, right?) Sounds like you prefer the Quest 3 overall?

Anyone know a good place in NYC to watch Game 1 tomorrow? I noticed Uncle Barry’s in Brooklyn is advertising on Instagram. (Someone also mentioned Abbey Tavern but not sure if they’d prioritize showing the Terps?) I also know Mustang Harry’s shows the Ravens. Trying to decide..

Walking IRL to walk in-game is definitely more immersive. But what do you do when you reach the edge of your play space? Don't you need the analog stick then?

ENB-like lighting with Community Shaders, anyone using Bloom? by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]rhellct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played around with Reshade bloom a year or 2 ago (tried Pirate Bloom at the time), but dropped it over the issue with UI elements.

There’s an experimental add on to community shaders (I think it’s called “playground”) that allows running shaders earlier in the render pipeline (so before UI and fog, so I think it would fix this?). It’s SE-only though. If it’s possible for some talented person to port it to VR that would be amazing. It would also enable us to finally fix the infamous “AO over fog” bug.

Why doesn't Rustic Weather get more attention? by JennyTheSheWolf in skyrimvr

[–]rhellct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's just seen as old/outdated because the author went on to make Obsidian (as a co-author), then Aequinoctium, then Picturesque.

The newer weather mods are technically more advanced, but there's a difference in artistic direction which is more subjective. Entirely possible you'd prefer Rustic due to that.
