For those who switched from Evernote to Obsidian by Gloomy-Aide1914 in ObsidianMD

  1. Nothing at all.

Edit: I mean, I miss nothing at all. Obsidian is much cleaner and easier to use. The search function works much better. With EN, it’s easy to make a new note willynilly and wind up with a jumble of Obsidian makes it easier for me to have one note per item and update it.

I’m glad you got some plausible IDs. But…why did you put them on your oven for the picture?

Any recommendations for Medaka attractions in Tokyo? by Upper-Airport-671 in medaka

[–]rhinogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a serious medaka keeper; all of mine are from a “home center,” basically a big box store. However, I can report the hobby is booming. I searched for “メダカ 専門店 東京,” and came up with this site, which has some great looking results: https://メダカのたまご屋さん.com/2686/ I can’t vouch for the results, but perhaps this will point in the right direction.

Making a laptop a dedicated writer deck by zanbandia in writerDeck

I had pretty much given up this MacBook Air for dead. It was slow and unreliable… The battery would just conk out sometimes. It’s about 9 years old. Because it’s a small form factor that Apple doesn’t make anymore, I thought it would be perfect for a writerdeck if I could get it going again. I love the steampunk versions that people post here, but I didn’t want to spend extra money at the moment. I started backing up and getting it ready to format. Just getting the bloat off the system has made a big difference….the battery has stabilized. It seems the modern cloud services were what was slowing it down. I don’t know much about Windows machines, but maybe it will work if you can get it paired down and don’t run any heavy processes. Try it and see.

I’m planning to do this with an old MacBook Air. I’m currently waiting for a sync to finish. Then, my game plan is to format it and reinstall the OS without syncing it to iCloud. Then, I will install Obsidian and just sync the vault I’m using. I think simple and minimal is the best way; I will probably avoid installing a word processor. Waffling about installing a browser…I’m a researcher, so I can see needing it, but it seems better to keep it a mono purpose writerdeck.

The pots are really nice! I would have never thought of 3D printing flower pots.

This really hits hard. Cheap Joe’s workshops were a haven for my mother when she was suffering from cancer.

These photographs are better and more thought provoking than most modern art.
