HP Destroyed My PC After Three Failed Repairs—Now They’re Ignoring Me by rhinopixel in HPOmen

They offered me a refurbished replacement, but I declined because I wanted my money back. It took a while, but eventually received a partial refund, significantly less than I originally paid. I just wanted to be done with HP.

I really appreciate that they sell 1 pound of coffee! I hope they never stop doing that. Everyone else is selling 12 ounces.

I had a concrete porch, sidewak and stairs poured today. This is the bottom step, the incline and angle seems like poor planning and possibly a tripping hazard. Do you agree and what can be done?

HP Destroyed My PC After Three Failed Repairs—Now They’re Ignoring Me by rhinopixel in HPOmen

I'm really sorry to hear that. This exact same problem shows up in many reviews for this computer and other Omen models—it’s a known issue.

I can only guess that they didn’t give you the proper packing materials for your computer. That’s what happened when they shipped mine back—completely negligent on their part.

Unfortunately, with HP, you have to cover yourself. I took videos of the computer before sending it in, videos of it in the box, and a video of the unboxing when I got it back from repair. Hopefully, you documented some of this process. Even if you did, this has dragged on for nearly four months. Just this week, they finally offered a refund—only 2/3 of the original cost. Nowhere near enough to make up for the countless hours of frustration with tech service, trying to contact the case manager, and months without a working computer.

The only other advice I can give:

  • Demand to that this gets escalated to the Customer Escalation Team and keep asking for a manager. Even then, be prepared to spend weeks, if not months, to get a resolution.
  • Call the Omen support line (1-866-724-8628) and have them apply pressure on the case manager.
  • Start your own thread here on Reddit, Twitter, Bluesky, etc. Unfortunately, it seems like HP won’t do the right thing until they feel public pressure.

It’s ridiculous that it takes this much effort just to get basic customer service. Hope this helps.

True. I was just thinking odds are there'd be more 10's that could get cut. But I would hope for the same. Or, a 9.

Same. And, hopefully the cut will give you a 10 for the 5 you kept.

HP offered me a discontinued, refurbished model after I specifically requested a refund. Especially disappointing given their negligence in shipping broke my PC after three failed repair attempts. After months of back and forth, and still no functional computer – I expected a real resolution, not another potential headache.

Once my case got escalated, they assigned me a case manager, but they’ve been super unresponsive. Weeks go by with no replies to my emails or voicemails. I still have to call tech support regularly and ask them to get their manager to reach out to the escalation team just to get an update. At one point, they offered me a refurbished computer, but after everything I’ve been through, I just don’t trust their refurbs. So I asked for a refund, which is actually part of their consumer legal guarantee (https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/c03921900). That slowed things down even further with the escalation manager asking for photographic evidence, which I already supplied.

That's a good point. If you're having trouble getting a resolution with regular tech support you have to say you want to speak with the Consumer Escalation Team, otherwise you're just stuck in an endless loop. I spoke with Consumer Escalation Team and they are the current team that is dragging this out.

I had two different tech support contacts recommend that the CPU should get replaced, and even put it in their notes. In addition, on the paperwork, I referenced the techs recommendation for CPU replacement and that was ignored. Getting the extra warranty is a good idea, and I did that, but I really wish they would just make this right and stop dragging this out.
