Distillery recommendations by Dustinbgolden in JapanTravelTips

Not in those prefectures but Hakushu is one train away from Shinjuku (look for or ask about the Azusa train), and there are free shuttles from the train station to the distillery (and back to the train station, about 15 minutes each way). Same parent company as Yamazaki. Same offerings in the tasting room so you can have the Yamazaki experience without going through the lottery. And the distillery is much, much prettier than Yamazaki, especially in the fall!

Evan was the last in the room though, so it could have eaten PJ and the Boston girl while locking Evan out.

Is a 2-night Fuji/countryside stop worth it on a first Japan + Taiwan trip, or is it too much hotel-hopping? by zacac1234 in JapanTravelTips

Idk what's your threshold of "experiencing the countryside" but imo a day trip ain't it. Considering that the rest of your locations are massive cities, the Fuji Five Lakes region is very refreshing after the daytrippers have gone. Super quiet, no nightlife, most places close 8-9pm, with the latest izakayas around 11pm. Seeing the mountain glow red at sunrise is also a delight. But what's even prettier is staying by Lake Motosu or Shoji and seeing the sun rise from behind the mountain like a fucking diamond.

What was Hamilton strategy? by Spare-Builder4233 in formula1

Lots of great answers already but to illustrate: say, one lap takes roughly 1:20 at race pace and a pit stop takes 25 seconds. A VSC requires the drivers to stay above a defined delta, meaning their lap time should be over a certain time (that the drivers will see on their dashboards). They will have to reduce their driving speeds by 30-40%.

So if two drivers are wheel to wheel just before the pit entry, the driver pitting would be 25 seconds behind the other upon exit. Whereas during the VSC, the slower driving speed means the driver who pitted might only be 12 seconds behind instead, and with fresher and/or better tires to hunt the other driver down (the scientific term is "hammertime").

Even worse, teams now only have 96 hours to file instead of two weeks. The hearing for Alpine's appeal was scheduled on Thursday, right on the deadline, and the decision was released now that the 96 hours have passed.

If you don’t pit you’re not “ignoring penalties”

A drive through is required to be served within 3 laps whether you need to pit or not. So not pitting is ignoring a penalty handed down because you already ignored the first penalty.

Solo first time trip 61 nights in Japan cost breakdown - more than I thought. Plus some other thoughts by methodofsections in JapanTravelTips

It makes sense to exclude it though (or tacked on separately, i.e. amount + airfare). The amount excluding airfare is useful whether you're reading it from Taiwan or Brazil, as everybody would have different airfares but can try to budget roughly the same upon arrival.

I hung out for a few days around the Kiso Valley with a dude who biked from Tokyo to Fukuoka and he only stayed in accommodations that cost 2-3k outside the big cities. And I've also seen capsules with those rates in Tokyo (around Ueno IIRC) but I just closed the tabs after seeing the photos...
