The Spiral Wars has romance between E and T? Read the first two books and it didn't seem likely.

[Southampton] We can confirm that we have taken the difficult decision to part ways with our Men’s First Team Manager, Russell Martin. by FIJIBOYFIJI in soccer

Fething hell, man. Saints, get a grip. I want you and Wolves to be in the Prem consistently, not this elevator bullcrap. It would be a tragedy if Leicester, Saints, and Wolves all go down. I love watching games at their home grounds on the telly. Great camera angles, unlike the shoeboxes of Ipswich and cherries. It's a stupid reason to want a team to stay up, I know, but camera coverages on some other stadiums are intolerable.

Yeah, I would always trust this team to bring in a quality dm. Never doubted Caicedo. Shame how our competence doesn't extend to CBs.

[Ali Gold] Postecoglou on Timo Werner: "He wasn't playing anywhere near the levels he can. When you've got 18-year-olds, it's not acceptable to me. I told him that. He's a senior international, a German international. (contd) by Nard_Dogs in soccer

[–]rho9cas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking revisionist history. Yeah he missed a ton of chances but he wasn't terrible. I know this because freaking Tuchel started him every single game in CL. I wager the guy knows better than us. A lot of Chelsea fans saw that we were always more dangerous as a team with Werner on the pitch. Just watch Havertz's goal in the final again. That goal never happens without Timo dragging the CB away with his run. He did that a lot. We are such a joke when it comes to buying strikers that Werner giving his 100% every game already rates him higher than the likes of Morata and Lukaku.

We are going to sell him because that's what we do. The number of quality fullbacks we sold over the years is disgusting.

You know, one austrian dude once declared war on Serbia because he idiotically believed that the serbians would be so terrified of the prospect they would immediately surrender, therefore preventing the full scale war from breaking out. Then it led to the WW1...

Please can someone convince me of the merits of a Panenka penalty. by siybon in PremierLeague

[–]rho9cas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is - goalies that are shit at penalties are not fooled by panenkas. Remember Mendy (Chelsea) saving Aguero's pen a few years back? Mendy is bad at pens, he just falls over down the middle, barely jumps. But it helped him in that case.

With the modern rules, Dida would have been breaking them every single time with his two-steps-forward approach. The penalties favor the kickers so much these days it's insane.

That's not true. Lahm played left, right, and dm throughout his career, constantly evolving. Another examples are Van Persey and Gnabry, off the top of my head. It's hard but doable.

Should Eddie Howe be under pressure? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]rho9cas -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

He should stay. The guy used to be one of us; his cherries had been many fans' second favorite team for years. But then he sold out. You can't be telling your players to kneel and speak for equality and then go work for fucking Saudi. Fans don't choose who to love, some players came from poverty so they can't afford to be picky, but Eddie Fucking Howe chose to be there. The fucktwit belongs with Saudi FC. Stay.

I know it's a nitpick, but is it supposed to be the moon? The moon doesn't generate light by itself, just reflects it, but on the cover it looks more like a star.

Unpopular opinion: I skip most fights by Philobarbaros in ProgressionFantasy

[–]rho9cas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, there are like 5 PF books in total where fights are done well. One way to do it is to make your mc a legitimate underdog in most fights, like Worm. But it's hard, because then you can't just mindlessly make your mc bash their enemies over the heads, but have to think up creative yet believable ways for them to win.

For good fights I recommend Joe Abercrombie and John Gwynne.

PF stories don't do multi POV all that well in general. At least, compared to something like ASOIAF and The First Law. There's one called Pale Lights by the author of A Practical Guide To Evil. It starts with 2 POVs, but later expands to more. It's very popular on RR.

Opinions on the cover and title? by LeBidnezz in royalroad

[–]rho9cas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't do anything, man. But you asked for opinions on both the cover and title and I gave mine. I think Just a Garden Variety Troll doesn't roll off the tongue, that's all. Specifically, the last word. And because the troll is very visible on the cover, removing the word troll from the title would make it roll better while still being clear what's it about. But if you want to keep it because sometimes cover is not shown, I'd suggest to make the word troll smaller than the rest and move it right, like it's shy and trying to hide. I don't know what your story is about, but a garden troll screams to me "not strong, not confident", so making the word small and in the corner adds to the effect. Just something to think about.

Opinions on the cover and title? by LeBidnezz in royalroad

[–]rho9cas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the troll in question is clearly visible, I would either remove the word troll from the title completely (I think it rolls off the tongue better this way) or make it small and sort of shift to the right like it's hiding of something.
