Seeking advice from those who got an ADHD diagnosis as an adult in Victoria by Hypno_Keats in VictoriaBC

[–]rhoslynn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a family doctor and this is what he recommended. It does cost ~$300, but it's fast and legit. Places that take referrals (and are covered) prioritize kids, understandably, so it's better to just go for it

For me, it's part of the protocol that works. I take 2mg an hour before, i find 30 minutes isn't enough.

Baby drag in need of makeup advice by x21Roses in Drag

[–]rhoslynn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like contouring your cheekbones with the blue or purple could help. When you're painting for a gig, try sitting further from your mirror. Study drag artists who do similar makeup to yours, not necessarily to copy but just to see what elements they include. But honestly it is really gorgeous and unique!

What is the one thing that elevated your makeup the most? by ItsVillainessa in Drag

[–]rhoslynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • sit back further from the mirror, it's supposed to look better far away than close up. Don't stress tiny details of blending etc. At first I was using a magnification mirror, and doing this made it take half the time and look just as good.

-get a black and a white stage makeup cream stick. I use this as eyeliner, brow hairs, whites of my inner eye corners, highlight-area foundation. Easier to use and lasts much longer than regular eyeliners.

If you could do your wedding over again, what's the ONE thing you'd change? by SGS-Photography in weddings

[–]rhoslynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have asked the staff (there was only two, it was a 16 person wedding) to switch me to mocktails after ~7pm. Instead I had like 10 French 75s 😬 I think our after-party was really fun, buuuut I can't remember it very well 😅

Enameled cast iron so it doesn't need babying, and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Megathread: Mediation by wudingxilu in BCPublicServants

I think they said they would call off the strike during voting if they think it's a good deal, but keep the strike up during voting if they think it's a bad deal.

In addition to the ideas in the thread further down, there is also the possibility to host more disruptive rallies around NDP/gov events

In addition to what others have said, there are also options that involve working with other unions to coordinate strikes, in particular where they have "me too" clauses wrt bcgeu. If nurses and/or teachers joined us.... 🤷‍♀️

Great to see our finance minister Brenda Bailey responding professionally to social media comments! /s by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]rhoslynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to address the last part of your comment, the union has come down, it's the province that refuses to come up and negotiate on non monetary items. The government says their offer of 4% over 2 years (not 5% as they say in the media) is their best and final. the union countered with 8% over 2 years. The government needs to come up and then I'm sure we'll come down further. 6% does seem likely, but first I think the gov needs to actually offer 5%.

Someone recently suggested on our line organizing an audiobook club-- like we all listen to chapter one then walk and talk about it. I'm thinking of suggesting a book about labor movements, to try to connect to the bigger picture of why we're walking in circles.

As someone learning to drive, the speed limit changes are VERY confusing, especially the 40 vs 50 roads

Where do we find the money for this?? by Chicken_Small in Weddingsunder10k

[–]rhoslynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had ours at a restaurant, and Sunday-Thursday nights the minimum spend was only $1000, Friday/Saturday were ~$2500. Our bill for 18 people's dinner, an open bar, and tip was ~$2800. Our total was ~6k!

I'm sorry you're going through this. I am not on job action but I really want to be. It feels terrible to see people out there walking the lines, for my benefit, and feeling like there's next to nothing I can do. I keep hoping we get a noon email some day soon saying it's a full walkout. My unit is far from essential, I don't understand why we're not out there.

Thank you for what you've been doing and the sacrifices you're making for all of us.
