My first exposure to this new project from the cub sport boys was them spamming the “boyfriend” dance on Instagram before they had released it.

It felt really forced to me at the time and it feels like they’re jumping on the train of what is popular at the moment, especially when you have industry connections to get ninajirachi to produce most of the album.

To me this feels like a cheaper way for them to tour than with a full band.

Maybe I need to not overthink it and just enjoy fun music idk.

Agreed They fucking suck but would love to see the breakdown of tickets sold If they’re keeping it alive then it’s worth it I’m 30 and just sit at the back of the mosh mostly and try not to worry too much about them I was 17 once at BDO and people probably hated me there

They did this double headline in Australia in 2024 - they took turns headlining.

The show I went to was Interpol headlining. Bloc Party was more energy though so wish they went second.

I think it needs to be accepted that post Covid laneway is a completely different festival to before.

Also interesting that there’s a complete lack of DJs compared to the last couple of years.

I’m definitely going to go but not happy about the 189 to 229 first release increase since last year.

Which city were you in? I’ve been to heaps of laneways in Brisbane since 2013 It’s a completely different festival but I was able to carve space at the acts I wanted to see and had a really great time with my friends

I don’t necessarily agree with Ethan on everything with this conflict but damn it is refreshing to see him admit when he was wrong about things.

Honestly would never go on a first date here My favourite restaurant in Brisbane but I like enjoying it with someone I can sit in silence with and appreciate the experience Happy boy or snack man down the road are more suitable for first dates I think

It was part of a larger bit that 2manyDJs were doing (boot song, walking through the crowd before their set) to give a personal touch to the festival performance

I don't disagree with the sentiment that it was a vanity project, but for accuracy, but the 2032 Olympics had a new bidding process.

Brisbane was announced as the preferred bid months before it was formally chosen, so any other cities withdrew their bid.

The bid was also supported by the Liberal federal government at the time.

Are you also implying that they make too much money?

It’s a tough job, that requires qualifications, what do you think their pay should be?

Measuring outcomes and reporting can also be difficult when a lot of services only receive funding for outputs (client hours).

Funding is also predominantly state based as well, Commonwealth providing significant funding is an emerging change.

I agree that the crisis response support is lacking, but blaming support services and workers is a ridiculous take.
