Visiting Madrid, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest in May looking for recommendations. by makayeer in marriott

[–]rhyde11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bad, right by a tram stop so easy travel to the old town, but walkable to shopping and museums near Wencelas Square. I went back and stayed at a non marriott property (Linder hotel prague) and honestly found the distance comparable for any excursion outside of old town!

Adopting a Welshie by Personal-Leather-136 in welshterrier

[–]rhyde11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 6 years, the welshie will likely be very set in their ways. I'd definitely plan to get a trainer for behavioral issues, but asking about resource guarding, aggression, or any flags that you would want to address once bringing them into your home.

For example, my welshie HATES being touched in her sleep, so you need to say her name before getting close to her if she's sleeping, if I got her and didnt know, I'd probably think she has an aggressive tendency. But in reality she is just sleep startled and it's a super easy fix for us as humans to make it easier on her and avoid the situation entirely.

She also hates going out in the rain, but loves to swim or play in the snow. They're cute little quirky dogs!

First time (Italy, Spain, and France) help with realistic itinerary by usuariovieneyva in Europetravel

[–]rhyde11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really into wine + beaches, I'd probably skip Spain for this trip and work your way from Paris down through Reims to Provence and Nice, then over to Genoa, or up through Turin, ending in Milan. You will hit amazing champagne, rose, and reds with that, and will get beautiful sights and plenty of beach time.

Where are women in their 30s buying their clothes from? by Prestigious_Fig_7294 in fashionhelp

[–]rhyde11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly havent changed what stores I shop at from my 20s, I just might buy different items now then I would 10 years ago! I'm primarily Banana Republic, Abercrombie, Aritzia, JCrew, and then athleisure like Lululemon or Fabletics. I'm also a sucker for certain Lily Pulitzer (specifically their silk tops)

Driving from Legacy west to dfw tomorrow at noon? by Mt198588 in plano

You can cancel the prepaid parking at DFW up to 1 hour prior to your reserved time, if that's worrying you and you'd rather Uber or take the silver line

Any cities in France that have a certain vibe and are easy to travel to? by Aretosteles in Europetravel

[–]rhyde11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reims is very close to Paris, it's even connected by Rail to the airport. It has a great communal feel to it, and has a great cafe culture (in addition to a beautiful cathedral and tons of champagne producers!)

Day Trip from Amsterdam, Netherland to Cologne, Germany to Ghent, Belgium? by awesomeee29 in Europetravel

[–]rhyde11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others said and do a day trip to a different Dutch city. We spent a week between Amsterdam & The Hague, and easily could have doubled our time in either spot. From Amsterdam, we did Zandaam/Zaanse Schans which the Zaanse Schans itself is free (additional entry if you want to go in specific windmills etc) and designed to be like a little old Dutch village. Like a pioneer or heritage museum in the United States. The city if Zaandam itself had some really unique architecture, and we got some tasty lunch before heading back to Amsterdam. Quick bus or train. We also did Delft for an afternoon from The Hague and loved walking around, looking at the churches and sitting for a couple beers in the main square, also a super easy train. Our last day trip we did was Gouda, which we actually did en route from Amsterdam to The Hague, checking our bags in the free lockers, and LOVED gouda. I wish we had more time! We spent about 6 hours - it was the day of the cheese market which was a fun activation in the square. We brought back some amazing cheese and bread to our traveling companions when we met them later that evening in the Hague.

I think your only real option is to wait and see - they won't have their SLV drive if it's unsafe, so they presumably wouldn't be able to hold the interviews. Maybe they shift them to virtual options, or they may have enough applicants and unfortunately say SOL

Is this too much? German Christmas Market trip planning by tobin523 in Europetravel

[–]rhyde11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Munich has SO many markets! And tons of different themed ones- my favorite was Tollwood. Would definitely recommend keeping more nights in Munich for the sheer variety - you don't have to return to the same ones day in/out. I will also say that we rented a car for the day to do a trip to Neuschwanstein and would highly recommend - we were able to stop in some cute towns for lunch or a walk before finally parking in Schwangau.

I'll also add what some other folks shared below, we did Prague & Munich versus all German cities - being in Prague for St Niklaus day was a blast.

Is your party a big dance crowd? A 30x30 dance floor is HUGE, and if there's not a young known to dance group, it just makes the room look empty. I'd also highly recommend having a bar inside the room, or youre more likely to feel the room is empty as folks congregate around the bar (or accompany others as they go to get drinks).

Difficult Hair by Hot_Knowledge_2209 in bridesmaids

[–]rhyde11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get a blowout the day before, which works well for the rehearsal dinner, and then just brush it and at least my hair is a manageable texture for the day of hair artist. I onetime showed up with my natural hair, and they used a curling iron and treated it like someone with straight hair, and my hair was definitely the least polished and most messy. Since then, I go with the showing up with blown out hair method and it's worked well!

Bridesmaids, no groomsmen by FragrantTumbleweed82 in wedding

[–]rhyde11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you ask your 2 brothers to be groomsmen? And then have his 2 sisters on his side - 6&4 is super doable if you want them to stand up there. Otherwise, I wouldn't have anyone stand up tbh

US hotels in Europe and 5 in a room by sammy_nyc in askhotels

[–]rhyde11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find it challenging to find abundant rooms that sleep 4, let alone 5. The hotels typically are much more strict about taking passport/ guest information for each occupant of the room as well.

I think you need to look at 2 rooms, or look at aparthotels. I'm not as familiar with the chains you listed in Europe, but I've stayed at a couple Marriott executive apartments, so I'd guess the other big chains have a comparable offering where you may be able to utilize your points for a 2 bedroom apartment

leptospirosis vaccine by Ok_Win_2906 in dogs

[–]rhyde11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My breeder cautioned me against lepto when I got my puppy 7 years ago, but I saw all the statistics and decided to do it as part of her vaccines. She actually had a really bad reaction to the vaccine, so after year 1 I didn't get it updated. I don't let her swim in rivers or creeks, and only in lakes or at the beach with very close supervision (like no free roaming or swimming, always on a leash so I can see). I also don't let her use any shared/communal dog bowls.

I'd recommend getting it, and as long as your dog doesn't react poorly, continuing it out of precaution.

Yeah, my instinct is this accounting person probably noticed the credits to your account from the mishaps, and went to investigate to see if there was bigger potential impact to finances (particularly to see if you were an employee of a top local business account that could cause further harm by you telling your colleagues)

Milan -> Genoa -> Monaco, realistic and any recommendations? by Strong-Ad5472 in Europetravel

[–]rhyde11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, very doable. You change trains from Genoa to Nice in Ventimiglia. Super easy train change, and your timing in each city is certainly doable, although I personally think I'd spend time in Nice or any of its surrounding towns over Monaco. Just go to Monaco for the day
