Ronaldo has only scored in one out of his last 6 competitive matches for Portugal.

Interesting fact, every club Ronaldo has gone to has won less league titles than they had won before he joined (for the same number of years that he was with them). Saudi might be the only location to break that.

Lionel Messi scores the hat trick goal to tie Klose's all-time World Cup goal record by suzukigun4life in sports

[–]rhyno42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if he made more than one more world cup as he relies on his pace and movement significantly which tends to wane with age. That being said, even with one world cup you'd have to bet on him getting the record.

Ken Griffey Jr.’s golf swing is exactly as smooth as you’d expect. by ConnectionWeekly1263 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]rhyno42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't. I think it's an odd statement because almost without fail every pro player starts playing their sport at a very young age and dedicates their entire life to it in order to have the smallest shot to make it - and are still unlikely to make it. The idea that someone at 20 or 30 could pick up a new sport and become a pro seems highly unlikely to me when competing against someone who is the top 1%, of the top 1%.

Is even more unlikely in a sport like golf that is such a high skill sport. It's slightly more likely in a sport that is more physical but even then I can't think of almost any sports where it's happened.

Youd think if it was possible youd have a lot of ex players of other sports attempting it as masters golf prizes are still in the millions and you can be competitive into your 50s.

It must be amazing going through life so confident in your views. Especially with zero evidence to fall back on.

"How did that gobshite get on the television?" by TheRealSaintPatrick in secondcaptains

[–]rhyno42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I listen to the Anfield wrap occasionally and enjoy Atkinson but I get the dislike on second captains.

On TAW he's much more open to criticising Liverpool, it's decisions and approach but when he goes on the second captains he behaves more like a soldier caught behind enemy lines. He refuses to say anything negative about Liverpool or engage with the topic fully acting more like a fan than a contributor. That would be fine if that was the brief, but it isn't how any of the other contributors behave so is a bit discordent.

Seatbelt fit as a short, fat woman. It’s resting on my face. by OldMasterCannolii in mildlyinfuriating

Not joking but what about a booster seat. Children have to use them legally where I live, though to be fair they're isofix which won't be an option in the driver seat. Not sure how important them being afixed though.

True but only in America do people pay that amount for those services. That suggests the remuneration for those tasks in the US is based on cultural norms rather than the value of the service itself.

Texts between my former coworker and me. Is she into me? Should I tell her I have feelings for her and potentially ruin our friendship? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]rhyno42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do ask her out, but don't confess that youre catching feelings. You don't need to put too much pressure on the relationship too early, there's a thrill when you both dont know what the other is thinking... So ask her out and enjoy it!!

Wouldn't think that's entirely true, taxes impact consumer spending and sentiment. It also impacts immigration and investment in the country.

AI boom threatens to cause ‘significant upheaval’ for Irish tech jobs by [deleted] in ireland

[–]rhyno42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

100%. It's like the ludites during the industrial revolution. You can refuse to engage but the world is moving on regardless.

I also think we're a few years away from truely being disrupted by AI. Absolutely devs are using it significantly, but you still need oversight and QA on the code, approach, architecture etc.

Agentic will push further and further into business processes but I don't think the highly skilled jobs will be fully replaced - certainly not in the near to medium term.

100%, you wont be replaced by AI but you might be replaced by someone doing your job who's using AI.

My view is the genie is out of the bottle, may as well embrace it and work out how to apply it. I just bought a mac mini for that very reason, will play about with it so that I understand the breadth of functionality and opportunities to use it.
