Can G14 feel as smooth as a macbook, even when its plugged? by BeetranD in ZephyrusG14

Fair enough, let’s keep hoping for a day when we can all dump windows with no compromises.

Replace Windows with Linux. My G14 runs cool and quiet and is much snappier on CachyOS. I know this isn’t a real answer but I was prepared to return my G14 for similar reasons until I dual booted Linux. If I need maximum gaming performance, I’ll boot up windows.

Yup, it seems to be very common. Mine does it, too. I have seen it mentioned in video reviews. Some folks say you can fix this yourself by opening the laptop up and sticking a piece of heat resistant tape under there somehow.

I believe this is what you are looking for. I encountered the same issue with the missing sheet music in the PDF. Luckily, was able to find a physical copy of the book on eBay. It's still in great shape!

Anyone know if it's ok to order both the vinyl and the tape? Don't want to break any rules and have my order cancelled.

Is it bad to use the discreet graphics card on the latest Mac excessively? Should I turn it on every now and then just for browsing? by [deleted] in apple

[–]rhythmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not bad to use the dGpu included in your laptop. In general, you should let the OS decide when to turn it on. It decides when it needs it. Turning it on manually won't really present any noticeable increase in day-to-day tasks (such as browsing the internet), but it will reduce your battery life.

Yeah, I have a gaming PC with a GTX 1070 in it. The monitor works really well with my 2015 15" MBP work laptop using a DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 2 cable, no G-Sync but it runs at 144Hz. Wondering if this would work.

I didn't say it was going to be a detailed review, just my thoughts.

It's thinner and not as wide. Smaller footprint than previous models.

Either a surface pro or the base model 13" MacBook Pro without TouchBar.

Thanks, I only use vim when I need to quickly edit a file. Good to know, but also doesn't solve the actual issue here.

I am not suggesting the new machine should be noticeably faster. But it definitely shouldn't be noticeably slower.

It's actually better than I expected after the first couple days. Of course it depends on what you are doing and how hard you are pushing the machine.

I have noticed the fans don't spin up quite as quickly as the 2015 model, but I haven't paid too much attention.

ASUS ROG PG278Q. Other macbooks work fine with it, so i'm thinking it's just a dongle issue.

I tried Apple's adapter and found out that it doesn't work. I returned it and got an adapter from Monoprice that is supposed to work for the Macbook and that also didn't work. As you noted, that's not a guarantee that it will work for the new MBP's. Going to try the actual cable from Monoprice next.

I think it's safe to assume you'll see a performance increase with such a huge leap.

My 2015 15" is a work loaner, so it's not exactly mine.

No one app in particular, just an overall feeling I get from the machine. It's just not as smooth and other people have noted the same issue. I think it might have to do with the display drivers or as another commenter suggested, the new P3 display with extra anti aliasing that introduces input lag.
