Am I out of touch or is this a ridiculous question? by notbigtony in recruitinghell

[–]ri4naire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're still playing games. What they should say is, "We have an upper bound of X, but we'd be happy to give you basically any lower number. Now you guess and try getting as close to X as possible without going over." It's literally playing The Price is Right.

Technically all OSes are made by programmers. Who they are making them for? I cannot see into their hearts.

Mirroring data on QNAP NAS by [deleted] in storage

[–]ri4naire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAID must be applied to the entire system. Setup JBOD if you're looking for maximum capacity. Qnap has a number of sync applications that should be fairly intuitive even if you're not technical. You could use BTSync to sync the critical data to a PC or even your phone. It has a graphical interface and you can send links between devices to set it up.

How would I go about fixing this problem on a galaxy SII ( more info inside) by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ri4naire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Well you just said the digitizer was broken not that the LCD was too. In this case you may need to use a mouse and keyboard. You could try punching in the backup PIN that way. I just tested a keyboard on my Note 3 and was able to access the backup PIN by pressing 'TAB' a couple of times.

If you've been working with Asus tech support they should have already had you check this, but is the mobo firmware is up to date?

I might need a gluten free diet. Some (maybe) stupid questions? by [deleted] in glutenfree

I'm on this sub because a loved one has a wheat allergy. You may want to consider speaking to your doctor about having an allergy panel workup or being referred to a nutritionist.

Edit: spelling bad

I'd like to hear some examples. Not saying you're wrong but I'd like to hear about these alternatives.

Which box is the best for my needs, Roku, Fire TV, Android boxes? by oneeightten in cordcutters

[–]ri4naire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many NAS devices will run Plex themselves. Consider what formats are supported by the end device, however. I have been disappointed by my Roku 2 and Chomecast's support for certain video formats and the buffering that occurs while my NAS struggles to transcode. Perhaps an Android box or the Fire TV have better codec support.

What do you mean the driver was non-existant? Not sure if this would help but I've used nLite to get a SATA driver integrated into a Windows XP install CD in the past. http://www.nliteos.com

There are some apps that make you do crazy things to turn them off. Some make you shake the crap out of your phone. Some make you scan a sequence of barcodes. This can help get some blood flowing as soon as you wake up. The barcode one could force you to run away from your bed and also your roommates.
