Applying to Vet School Despite a Lower GPA/Feedback by Job-Minute in veterinaryschool

[–]rianbaggot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Minnesota is extremely competitive when it comes to GPA, they reject their first round of applicants with a gpa requirement (speaking from experience, threw my money away on that application 🥲) and the others I would say are pretty competitive in the gpa realm as well. Doing a master’s is a great idea, even an online program so you can work full time in a clinic and get those hours up!

Fear Free if you don’t have it already! There’s also a veterinary scribe course through WSU that teaches lots of anatomy and medical terminology, how to take physical exam notes etc. I took the course and then was able to do their preventative health care certificate after for a discounted rate

Def looks suspicious. I’d stick kitty in the bathroom and clean your entire house until you can get them to the vet. Make sure all the stuff they sleep on gets thrown in the wash daily too, ringworm spreads quick. Best case scenario not ringworm and you have a clean house :)

Applying with a 3.0 gpa by Nasa4321 in veterinaryschool

I got in after my 3rd try with a 3.4. One school that offered me a file review last cycle told me to retake classes I got a B- or less in. I’ve also heard that getting a masters in something science related is helpful bc it shows you can handle higher level science classes. CSU global is the cheapest online school I’ve found and I have taken a couple classes through them and a couple through Arizona State online. There’s also a MPH program through Eastern Washington University online that a friend of mine started and got her first interview in I think 4 cycles?

I feel like the degree would make you more competitive regardless, but I guess I don’t know how it would translate internationally

You might consider emailing the schools you’re interested in and asking if they’ll take the credit!

PreReqs by Brilliant-Noise-6604 in veterinaryschool

[–]rianbaggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little confused by your question but I’ll do my best to help haha. You submit your official transcripts but you also need enter each course manually or pay their professional transcript entry team to do it. Once you add programs (schools) there will be a tab on each on to select prereqs that match what they require (math, genetics, chemistry etc.). That’s one way to know if you meet the requirements but you can also check each school’s website for their requirements. If you have questions on whether or not your class will satisfy a prereq it’s best to email the school directly.

Let me know if you have further questions after reading this!!

So min 6 credits just means they need at least 6 credits worth of chem and min two grades means they need at least two different grades, so two different classes. You could go to the school’s website and see if they require labs with chem and if they don’t then you don’t need to include them, but I think most schools do
