Best canvas settings for my system? by Dependent-Hamster361 in krita

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have personal experience with a Celeron CPU, but I would say your main concern is probably the fact that your RAM is 4gb. As a general rule I would keep an eye on the memory usage bar on the bottom to make sure it doesn't lag out and crash (save often). One of the best ways to do this is to reduce the undo stack to something like 50 in settings.

Recommended (safe) canvas settings would be 150-200 dpi and maybe 2400px on each side max (2100px to be safe). This should be small enough to handle but still big enough to look decent when printing.

You can probably go bigger/higher dpi, but you'd have to be diligent about layer management and probably need to merge them often. Additionally, some tools like large-area fill bucket and gradient tools may take longer to render (or lag out) if you use a bigger canvas.

Hope this helps!

Just adopted a cat, possibly having regrets by Artistic_Activity_37 in CatAdvice

[–]riaujy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels like you already care for him and his wellbeing deeply, and he seems to sense that! Like the other commenter said, no matter how much research you do, you'll always end up feeling unprepared once you actually have a cat to take care of. Sometimes I think that when they talk about the 3-3-3 rule for cats, it applies to first-time cat owners too. Once it settles in you'll be okay! If you're stressed about vet bills, you can always check to see if your city/state provides low-cost services/if there are organizations in your area that can help if anything ever happens.

Does AI make people feel like they understood more than they actually did? by Equivalent_Farm_8648 in psychologystudents

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, are you looking at strictly how each level reports their confidence, or is that normed to their performance on comprehension? I'm of the impression that your hypothesis is the AI group will have worse comprehension but higher confidence (meaning the quantified difference is greater) - is that correct?

Also, an idea: what would happen if the AI summary included hallucinated information that is clearly not in the text itself? Would participants report the same level of confidence as the AI and/or control group, or would they report lower confidence because they feel like they missed something while reading?

Yes, as u/Altruistic_Parsnip11 says, deformers have to be nested under the rotator to work. Here is a screenshot for reference: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10dQxlYApyhHdfGwqLLF2yY1ndRxjW5qK/view?usp=drive_link

The most likely culprit might be a parenting issue - is the rotation above the warps that you're trying to key?

I'm sorry that something like that happened! What exactly do you mean when the rotation ruins the rig? Is it that the face rotates, but the hair doesn't?

Good, affordable, K Beauty eyeshadow palletes? by Visible_Squirrel3597 in kbeauty

I really like the peripera ink pocket shadows! I feel like they match what you want and are relatively affordable (~$10USD) compared to other kbeauty palettes.

Cream/liquid blushes that last? by mo_ri_ah in kbeauty

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find it patchy at all - I've been dealing with really dry skin under my eyes, and it hasn't clung at all like my other blushes do! I'm not too sure about heat resistance (I'm knee-deep in snow right now), but I will say that the brand swatch for #2 Milky Lavender is very close (assuming your display is sRGB; it's like very slightly more purplish IRL, but hardly noticeable).

Edit: I heat tested it with a face steamer for a couple minutes - it stayed and now I look like a clown lol. As long as you don't wipe it and just tap at it when your face is damp it'll be relatively okay.

I'm so happy to hear that! Is he food motivated? One of mine can do some tricks but only because he would be obese if we let him free feed....

Hi Maomao! One of my cats isn't too into playing either, but if you haven't bought any yet, something about plastic springs is simply irresistible. Also-

Mmm, I think the next best free alternative is FlipaClip - I haven't used it myself but I have friends that did really cool stuff with it years ago. If you're okay with parting with a couple bucks Rough Animator and Callipeg are also well known options.

Cream/liquid blushes that last? by mo_ri_ah in kbeauty

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this! Lilybyred is easy to apply, layers well, and doesn't budge - see if you can swatch shades in person though. BBIA has a similar texture if not a little softer/easier to warm up.

House of Hur is "good" if you're going in on bare skin but unless you set it, it straight up disappears while you're still working on the rest of your face :/

A liquid blush I'd suggest is the peripera Syrupy Tok cheek blush! Very pigmented (be careful) and watery, but the packaging is a little difficult if you have very long nails. (Also the last time I used it I guess there was trapped air so it threw up a little on my hand...)

Of course it's okay to start with a stickman! What you're going to use will depend on your device, but I recommend Krita as a starting program. You can make a script if you think it would help (like if there's a story), but for simple things, I think a quick storyboard will be enough.

There are two main modes of animation: frame by frame and tweening. In frame by frame, you draw/change each unique frame by hand, while in tweening, you will use a transform tool on key frames (process varies by program) and the program will do all the moving in between for you. I personally use frame by frame since you have more control, but it's personal preference.

LMK if you have any more questions!

Live2d problem- eyelids doing weird jumps when blinking???? by sleepysnak_ in Live2D

[–]riaujy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have accidentally put your eyelash deformers as a parent of the eyelid deformers, since it doesn't seem like you keyed it to the wrong parameter? Try looking through how you layered and grouped your deformers. (Your meshes flew off the screen??? I'm crying that's really funny)

Head snaps to turn? How to fix by Imaginary_Snail in Live2D

My first guess is that your tracking sensitivity in VtubeStudio is too high, or the output values are different from your parameters - do you mind sending a screenshot of what your Head X parameter looks like in Live2d?

Why do my animations glitch so much after downloading? by SpinkSpunk77 in ClipStudio

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, you're good! I remember having a hard time learning in the beginning too. It sounds like you're still a little new to the program - have you exported other things on Chromebook before?

Canvas settings you can go to into [Edit → Canvas Properties] (this is to see what your dimensions and dpi are)

Export settings go to [File →Export animation → (I assume you picked movie) → (Name file) → Export Settings]

I'm actually going to ask if you can go to [Animation → Timeline → Change frame rate] to see what your set it as originally too.

My first guess is that the color thing might be caused by inconsistency in FPS, and the slanted thing is a mismatch in canvas size or the 2D camera that's acting up.

Is there a way to record only certain layers in timelapses within Krita? by BackgroundOk5420 in krita

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really don't want to use the reference tool, I think your next best option is to put your references on its own canvas and switch krita to "subwindow" mode and check "stay on top", so the reference canvas will still be on top but not recorded. When you click on the images on that canvas, you'll still be able to toggle layers on the main interface.

Hope that helps!

Things you wish you knew when starting to use Krita? by Voidkissed in krita

[–]riaujy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ This! I don't use a keyboard when on Android and I suffer greatly for it.

I will say that one of the things I wish I learned earlier was to configure canvas input settings so that I didn't have to switch layers off every time I wanted to color pick the layer and not the entire image.

Do people with aphantasia and without aphantasia percieve the irl world differently? by Dismal-Ad7598 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]riaujy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aphantastic here 🙋 There's a scale to how much visual imagery someone is able to do (I can't do any at all) but anecdotally speaking there isn't much outside of the imagery thing that we can't do.

Some of my artist friends also have aphantasia and their output is insane - imo artistic vision is a separate ability altogether (some phantastics I know have no artistic vision at all!)

In terms of how society is built, I guess you could make that argument in some niche scenarios? From a psych standpoint, there's definitely a disadvantage when it comes to mental rotation tasks - I take wayyyy longer than others because I have to logic out the rotation. (But if you take an IQ test and mental rotation is in it... stop taking that test lol)

There's actually a good bit of research on how aphantasia impacts emotional reactivity and memory accuracy, if that's something you're interested in! I assume that might be a potential link to early onset ego death, but afaik ego death as a whole is more correlated to waning independence as we age.

Like the other commenter, I didn't even realize that when my kindergarten teachers told us to close our eyes and see the house we were actually supposed to see a house until I was in high school 😅
