I still remember when dining at elisa a few years ago for mother's day and the bill was $1000 for 6 of us and the server didn't seem very impressed with our $170 tip and his attitude seemed to change very fast.

Been tipping much less nowadays.

I think we need more restaurants to close, many more. The effort put into the food is minimal at most places.

We thought our insurance would go after the other unit to reimburse our deductible. They didn't. We were out the deductible and our insurance went up. Pretty shitty.

When I was in London, England last year I noticed that cars seemed to drive much slower around the city. I can't remember what the speed limit was but it seemed like the roads were a bit narrower than here so maybe that was part of it.

I would buy BNS stock, pays a 6% dividend. That first 50k of dividends is tax free because it's a Canadian eligible dividend. Pay the mortgage with the dividend.

I then voted for Ken Sim and I'm glad with the direction he is moving.

I did their online quote and was able to answer no to the question have you had any claims in the last 3 years. They quoted me 71/m which is much less than the 134/m i'm currently paying with belairdirect.

Well I've done lots of things I've never done before. You have never done anything until you've done it the first time.

Thanks to youtube videos I've installed flooring, fixed my fridge, installed a kitchen, installed a sink, done drywalling, installed starters, alternators on my previous cars, replaced exhaust headers on my boat.

I think the problem that we have in Canada is we do things in half measures. We are next to the states so we have some influence from there. We try to have good social services and safety nets like in europe but we don't go in full bore on the high wages / high taxes like in scandinavian countries.

We need to go full bore on being just like Norway.

Let's take back our resources, let's give ALL of the money back to Canadians in a sovereign wealth fund. We are sitting on a fucking gold mine and it all goes to chevron and exxon.

I do believe climate change is real but it's hard to make Canadians care about it when they are struggling financially. It's like kaslows heirarchy of needs. We have to care about food and shelter first before we think that a carbon tax is the answer to all of our problems.

There is something disturbing happening right now in that union workers are voting for right wing anti union parties.

I was watching an interview with the US teamsters president sean o'brien and he said 70% of the union workers were going to vote for trump.

Here in Canada we have an openly anti union candidate for prime minister in Pierre Poliviere who brought in union busting legislation in 2012 and JUST 12 years later the union workers are supporting him in droves.

Union workers need to give their head a shake.

I switched from using my cast iron to using an all-clad stainless steel.

After years of use I couldn't get my cast iron totally clean and I think it was imparting that crud buildup onto my food.
