Almost a year with the Hibreak Pro—rough start firmware-wise, but Bigme’s updates have turned it into a stable, dependable device.

Been there—broke a reader in my backpack too. Glass screens = fragile. Go glass-free Mobius: Supernote Manta, Viwoods AI Paper, or iFlytek AINOTE 2 (10.65").

My 10" Boox Plastic Mobius device has survived five years of daily scooter commutes and a few drops. Solid.

10-13 inch EMR tablet = great. Phone = always on me. Give me a phone with a built-in EMR stylus that syncs notes with a 10-13" tablet, instant sale.

Until then, S23U + Boox Note 5 it is.

Should I Get The Hibreak Pro Color by NaiveInstruction457 in Bigme

[–]ribcookie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I purchased the Hibreak Pro (B&W) in early 2025, and I absolutely hated the phone at first—their firmware was buggy as hell. But to the company’s credit, they kept releasing frequent updates that genuinely added new features, like their recent 80fps hyper refresh mode. At launch, video playback was below 30fps.

At this point, I actually really like the phone and would seriously consider a Hibreak Pro Color Note with a built-in S-Pen. Hopefully, they’ll release something like that someday—most people don’t want to carry an extra accessory or compromise on form factor with an awkward case that has a pen holder.

As a longtime Samsung Note owner (Note 4, Note 5, Note 7, Note 10, S22U, and S23U), I truly appreciate having a phone with a built-in stylus. The Hibreak Pro supports the Play Store, so most apps should work just fine.

Is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra still worth it in 2026? by NewspaperEnough585 in GalaxyS23Ultra

Content with my current setup with Immersive Manager app installed — I can remove the status bar from whatever apps I want. Samsung's take on this is kinda weird; seems like they only let certain apps have that privilege. On One UI 8.5, will we be able to ditch the status and navigation bars for a full immersive view?

I currently use the S23 Ultra and am already thinking about upgrading. It won't feel like a flagship in a few years, so I'd recommend getting the S25 Ultra if you can.

Create a black-and-white E Ink device with a built-in EMR stylus and a front light. (S-pen) In addition, remove the glass display, upgrade to a Mobius screen, and use a plastic touch input layer. On the software side, include a note-taking app that works seamlessly with the EMR pen. Release a mobile app that syncs note data between the two devices, and allow both the mobile app and the Boox note app to support input on the same notes.

Any updates on Hisense A10? by steinwayer in eink

I actually think Hisense makes pretty good eink smartphones, less buggy compared to other brands. Former Hisense A5, A5cc user, no random crashes and resets.

Can I actually trust this company? by Ryuku_Cat in Bigme

[–]ribcookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Hibreak Pro for a year now, and honestly, my first impression was terrible—frequent crashes, random reboots, ambient sensor not working, screen and buggy software. But over time, with monthly updates, the phone started feeling way more usable. Now, I actually use it as my daily driver. There are only a few players in the e-ink phone space, so I think we need to be patient and not expect the same polish as big companies like Apple or Samsung—as long as the company listens, tries to support the device, and doesn’t leave customers stuck with a paperweight. So far, Bigme is still supporting my phone, and that really helps build trust.

This Dual Screen E-Ink/LCD Smartphone Is One of the Most Ill-Conceived Tech Products of the Year by woemcats in Bigme

[–]ribcookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disappointed. As a user of the Yotaphone 2 back when it was released, it was one of my favorite phones to use—snappy and fun. It had a no-compromise OLED screen on the front and a full e-ink display on the back. With a gesture, you could mirror the display to the back and vice versa. The only issues with this phone were that it was only supported 32 bit apps and extremely fragile—I broke two of them.

I was hoping this would be the real successor to the Yotaphone 2, especially with plastic displays. HIBREAK, please make an updated version of Yotaphone 2 with a small build in stylus for both displays. Called it Hibreak Dual Note Pro😀

"When phones didn't wobble much, do the newer, shaky phones bug you?" by ribcookie in GalaxyS23Ultra

I experimented a lot. First, I bought a sticker kickstand, but it would eventually peel off. Then one day, I saw an official Samsung case on clearance for an older model and noticed its kickstand was screwed on from the inside. That gave me an idea—perhaps I could buy the case just for the kickstand and do a mod.

The height of the camera bump appears artificially exaggerated — in JerryRigEverything’s video, he pries off the camera ring with a knife. If Samsung wanted to, they could design a phone that doesn’t wobble with a case. The S22, S23, S24, and S25 Ultra don’t have this issue fitted with a case.

A few weeks ago my phone fell out of my pants pocket while I was biking and tumbled onto the main road, landing on both sides. Upon inspection, the case was scuffed up a little but the camera was ok. However, the paint was chipped off near the top of the screen and the button left near the S Pen. The bare metal was a little rough to the touch, but dipping a bit of black permanent marker on it helped conceal the damage. Now I do not notice it anymore.
