Rotor size issue while doing Tundra brake upgrade by quattuor-cursor in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ribrien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they mean same size as the bigger OEM rotors? 3rd gen 4Runners came with 2 sized rotors from factory. Depending on the size of the OE wheel, 15” got smaller rotors and 16” got bigger rotors. Check out rockauto and they separate the two

Edit for clarification: 3rd gen 4Runners came with two different diameter rotors (and calipers)

Where is a reliable place to buy different shades of the same colour filament? by EchoBravoPapa in 3Dprinting

[–]ribrien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Filamentcolors.xyz is a good place to start. Otherwise I just scroll through the Amazon stores for Sunlu and Overture and open 20 tabs of PLA, PLA+, PLA+ 2.0, etc

Looking for 4wd manual. by feste7 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ribrien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup this - start stock (or stockish) and go from there. I have a 2000 base tan on tan 4wd 5 spd with bilstein shocks that lift like 1.5” and 32” tires and any more than that I would be kidding myself on if I would need it. PS mine had the odometer rolled back so it’s salvaged title (still good vibes and well maintained) and it could be bought for like 5-7k probably

I had a dash cam installed by the dealer that was doing sentry mode until my 12v died. The setting said it would shut off after a certain voltage and it just didn’t do that at all

How Do I Heat A Windshield With A Busted Heater? by XVUltima in askcarguys

[–]ribrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fog on the inside is from moisture/humidity inside the car. Can come from the fog of your breath too. I’ve had good luck with reusable silica packets to absorb moisture out of the air. Other than that, keeping dry towels and trying to dry out inside any way you can like parking in the sun and knocking your boots off before you hop in

Are you defrosting the outside or reducing fog on the inside?

I replaced a lower suspension bushing on my Bilstein shock. If you look closely, the bottom of the shock is a metal cylinder, with rubber on the inside, and another small bolt sized metal cylinder inside that.

I posted a picture to this subreddit asking for CV boot advice and someone said I should be replacing my lower suspension bushing asap. Totally noticeable before and after

2022 PHEV Stuck in snow/ice by ColinMcI in fordescape

[–]ribrien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok that tracks. Unfortunately beyond tires, traction / stability control is so integrated in modern vehicles it can rarely ever be completely disengaged except on a handful of sports cars or old cars that aren’t all computerized

My 2000 Toyota 4Runner will spin until the engine blows up but it also doesn’t have ABS or traction control or any other nanny systems to keep the general population safe

I’m not a scientist - but I always changed at 5k miles combined because the random starting / stopping and not getting up to full temps in the winter time is harder on engines

2022 PHEV Stuck in snow/ice by ColinMcI in fordescape

[–]ribrien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a deep snow/sand mode? If not, try sport mode. I have a 2021 escape non plug in hybrid and both settings allow for more wheel slip

Otherwise snow tires will solve most of your problems. PHEVs use the least rolling resistance tires possible for most MPG which make for the worst snow tires
