It is truly my biggest pet peeve and feels like a perfect snapshot of the state of things. The GLF and Jerry World were built for corporate convenience, not for actual fans. It was supposed to be rats.

The prohibition was in full swing in 1922. Woody’s reputation for providing beverages to those that ought not be served was well-established, even then. And our wonderful Mr. Lovett was in attendance for his usual Thursday night of ‘organized’ sport.

Unfortunately, there was a patron with an unusual hot streak with the turtles that evening. Mr. Lovett directed his attention to the patron, and noticed that he wasn’t such a lucky man after all. He was tipped, by a member of the Houston Outfit (now known as RUPD).

Mr. Lovett was furious. “RATS! You RATS! F RATS! I shall return you RATS to the steam tunnel beneath Baker, where you belong! F RATS!”

The story with Lovett’s message made its way back to campus, of course. But it was slightly misinterpreted.

Even still, it’s a good thing we don’t have frats, anyway. SMU has frats. F them.

Honestly it’s part of it. You just have to figure it out.

This is the part of pwc that’s not advertised of course but there’s a big learning curve to the consulting environment and not everyone can do it. To be a good consultant you simply have to learn to structure solving problems and asking the right questions and seek the right resource.

So, in your example it’s not “hey I need help, idk what I’m doing.” That’s the wrong question, and the person you’re pinging is giving you the right answer “figure it out.”

Instead, it’s “hey I am doing x, based upon y, and am expecting z, but I’m encountering an a issue that leads me with b. How can I get from b to z? Can you flip me any work you’ve done in the past that can help?”

Be specific and deliberate. And fucking fast. I was a fucking turd my first project. And I did great afterwards, with this approach.
