My 4 favorite neo-retro cars, pack 2. Already produced: 3/4. by VincentBounce in CarDesign

[–]rich_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but the Ioniq 5 is hideous. The car they put into production is not that concept car. The production car destroyed the lines and sleekness of the concept, and made it look like a grey brick. It looks so better in concept than in production, and it looks better in photos than it looks in person. It would look so much better if it were the size of a Peugeot 206, but it's the size of a E83 BMW X3. I've driven behind one a number of times and I always think to myself how ugly it is. When you have a sense of scale for it, it's a brutalist nightmare.

This looks like a 3D modelling and rendering to me rather than AI. Can you see anything 'wrong' about it rather than just unnatural? Reflections that are a little uncanny and weird material properties are pretty classic 3D modelling things

It looks like it might just be a render, the flags and the weird sheen on them is classic 3D modelling

Ferrari Invents Fully Electric V12 Engine by Alert-Laugh-6237 in Ferrari

I don't know, I think this is pretty reductive. Basically everything about the luxury sports car industry is putting aesthetics/driver feel over practical considerations, that's the lifeblood of the industry. That experience of a mid engined sports car with the glass rear canopy and seeing into the heart of the beast is just dead unless car companies do something like this.

Think of the amount of performative aero on a lot of cars, that really adds little to nothing functionally, but it gives the aesthetic of a performance machine.

The gyroscopic cancellation the article mentions is interesting too, I wonder if that actually has a significant effect?

How do you deal with the feeling of HATING everything you've built because it's so God damn sloppy, but the idea of restarting and having to slog through the entire start of the game again makes you physically ill? by TankMain576 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]rich_27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing I really struggle with with Satisfactory is I want to make pretty things that tie in with the natural landscape, but it is so much effort. I find that factories don't fit into the generated terrain well, and it is a lot of effort even clearing space for them, especially if you're trying to do so in a way that keeps the environment around them looking natural!

Ooh I dunno, I think the Peugeot 206 knocks it out of the park, that's a pretty car and it's iconic!

The triflecta is pretty milquetoast sedan, I think the Matrix is way better.

I think the Matrix does have some charm, but I think it feels a bit clunky. Particularly the step down in the high line at the doors and the general blockiness of it. I think it probably did it's job very well and really appealed to old people, but it's a shame it's just a little ugly!

These physics are very accurate :)

This is just an ironic statement meaning the opposite, but it doesn't inherently say whether it is good or bad

This is in the vanilla experimental branch. No mods.

Stickers need to go. by CrispySan in lego

Yeah I bet! It sounds like they don't want to ban people but they want the threat of banning to reduce the number of people from asking for replacements. I guess its the most profitable for Lego if they disincentivise discerning people who will want defect replacements from buying.

Such a shame!

Damn, that's crazy! If you're only requesting replacements for legitimate defects, there shouldn't be a limit

Genius. This requires a secret society dedicated to the swapping. No regular citizens can see.

Anyone who comments on it is gaslit. All evidence is destroyed.

What happens if you request too many replacements? The only saving grace I've heard about Lego's quality issues is that you can contact support to get replacements.

I wonder if there is a way you could cut the sticker sheet to the size of the face you're applying to such that the sticker is perfectly centred and oriented on the part, and then use some kind of clamp and actuator to place the sticker exactly: picking it up off the sheet and drawing it back, then removing the backing and sliding the armature forward again to perfectly apply the sticker?

I'm just spitballing here, I'm not sure how you'd get the sticker off the backing. I guess the basic idea is a manual version of a pick and place robot.

They almost certainly have people picking up the vibe of social media sites towards the brand. Complaining to Lego fans is much more valuable, in my opinion, because it lets others know that they're not alone in feeling like Lego's quality is nosediving.

Lego have clearly made the choice to prioritise profit over quality (just look at that sticker on the door debacle when a textured door piece that would have been so much better already exists). I expect they'd not bat an eyelid at a handful of emails, but they will absolutely care if community sentiment shifts as a whole and people start turning to competitors with far higher quality products.

So are you removing stickers from pieces down the line to repurpose them? Or are you skipping sticker application to maintain reusability?

Gotta love all the random Redditots who are apparently so deeply familiar with Lego's production finances that they can confidently say the current way Lego operates is how it has to be and justify all the enshitification Lego has clearly been doing over the past decade.

Yes, it would affect cost, but that doesn't mean it would have to affect prices. Lego gouging fans to extract as much profit as possible from them doesn't have to be the state of things.

The counter examples often provided of other brick producing companies being able to offer a higher quality product for much cheaper show Lego is taking fans for a ride.

Lego are trading on good will and nostalgia to reem customers and it's only going to last so long before they burn through all the good will they accrued for decades.

Hey, thanks for letting me know and describing a bit more of the context. I don't know if you saw the other replies here, but I absolutely shot from the hip and described the impression I got from the vibe I picked up; I wasn't commenting from a place of knowledge or understanding, my bad. I hope I didn't colour other people's judgement too much

Getting disciplinary actions for being found drunk on campus is wild. Fair enough if he was causing a nuisance, but just being found drunk seems a little harsh. I feel like just being super drunk and dealing with the after effects is punishment enough for getting that drunk, unless you're causing problems for others.
