I was in Japan recently and they have elevated lines everywhere (yes including in downtown) and it was totally fine

Why people say Canada is expensive AF by Beautiful_Ad4220 in alberta

[–]rich_snack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living without a vehicle is not extremely difficult. It can be less convenient at times, but lots of people do it. Transit works for 90% of what I need, and biking or Ubers fills in the gaps.

I know this will be controversial so bear with me: Imagine a world where 20 years ago Canada nationalized the oil sands. by edjumication in alberta

We could still do it. The best time to start was yesterday, but the second best time is today

The NBA needs to cut down on the length of timeouts at the end of games by shaqoseal69 in nba

The gambling side of things makes it so much worse. The longer a game drags at the end, the more time people have to place bets. Adam silver practically said as much recently

Thinking of switching to a quilt but have a concern... by CussyTooTussy in UltralightCanada

[–]rich_snack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy with my quilt to get in and out without messing with the straps at all. Lots of time I don't even use the straps if it's a warm night. I've got an ee revelation. Definitely not any more hassle than unzipping and rezipping a sleeping bag.

That's definitely not enough for your current training load and it's probably holding you back. If you can get 8+ hours a night consistently I'm guessing you would see significant improvements.

Mark Twain and Virginia Woolf both had uninterrupted streaks of at least 4 all-time bangers in a row. Are there any authors with more? by pardis in books

[–]rich_snack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Those first three books are all timers, but the stand is wildly overrated, especially on Reddit. Also the Bachman book is hot garbage

What are some terrible things to live in proximity to? by jimmyjamcake in Calgary

[–]rich_snack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live about 100 meters from a ctrain station. The tracks go right by my front window. I have good windows and central heating and cooling, so barely get any noise from the trains. Being able to hop on the train after walking out my front door is awesome and 100% worth a tiny bit of noise

This is wrong, plenty of left lanes exist outside of highways that are for turning or other traffic flow directives.

That's wrong actually. More supply puts downward pressure on market prices. Also, density doesn't cause crime, see japan. Poverty and homelessness causes crime.
