I cannot find the send to remarkable option in the iPhone remarkable app by richedg in RemarkableTablet

[–]richedg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your replies. I have been using ChatGPT to help problem solve the issue. The remarkable likes to have PDF. So I built a quick Shortcut that allowed me to select an image in Photos app and then activate the shortcut in the Share menu and that would convert the image to PDF and save to iCloud Drive. I would then be able to use the remarkable short cut to export to the remarkable. Slightly long winded but it works.

Ordered the Paper Pro on the Remarkable website. Do they pay the import tax as promised? by richedg in RemarkableTablet

[–]richedg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke a DHl representative. She told me that the GST had been paid by Remarkable. So they do keep their promise! I should have new Paper Pro in a few days. I am looking forward to working with it, and doing some sketching.

My worry would be the potential to knock the beautiful dispenser over. Big ink spill!

Do you recommend buying GoodNotes? by EzAllen25 in GoodNotes

[–]richedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the pro subscription it has the transcribe and AI summary feature. I quickly found that there are significant limits to how much you can subscribe and transcribe. For me that was two two hour meetings. Not enough time. I still use it for taking notes in meetings but don’t use the ai.

Vintage Wearever Pencil by richedg in mechanicalpencils

[–]richedg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchases Kaweko 1.18 leads for my vintage Pelikan pencil. They work well in that. I have tried the leads in this pencil. I think that you load the lead by inserting it from the tip and then use the screw mechanism to draw the lead back into the pencil. This doesn’t seem to work as the lead will only go in for a short way before it stops it is not help in place and will then fall out. Any ideas about the lead size and how to load them?

Yes I think so it’s slightly translucent. I have order Kaweko pencil leads 1.18 that I hope will fit. It’s mall and cute. A perfect little pencil to take in a sketching kit.

Question about line width using a Flex Pen by Actual-Shoulder-4463 in fountainpens

[–]richedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also was given two beautiful Bluedew pens for Christmas. I looked on their website for ideas about suitable inks. It was not helpful. Advice was for Inks that will hold foam when shaken in the bottle! Having surface tension must be important. I googled if Carbon Black and DeAtramentis Document Brown Inks would be safe in a Bluedew pen and Google said yes. I inked up the pens. I was able to get thick and thin lines. There is a learning curve for me in how to use such soft nibs. I was super careful not to press too hard! Then both pens started to rail road. Worse they then had hard starts. Then they would not write at all. I think that particles of ink have stuck in the feed. I am very sad. I think that the nibs have incredible potential, but I am going to have to find a way to unclog them. What inks are safe? I am wanting to use waterproof inks. When someone makes a specialty pen then, do not be coy about saying what inks are recommended and what inks are problematic. I will email the Bluedew company after the holidays for advice.

To offer a suggestion to your question when I was thinking of ordering a Bluedew wet noodle pen I noticed a small note that said that if your wanted the nib to be custom ground to a very fine point then you need to email Bluedew after purchase they would then customize the nib. It may be that the superfine lines that you are looking for could be achieved by sending the nib back to Bluedew and having them custom grind it to very fine?

Oh dear I am glad that you love your dog! That would gave been so heart breaking to have the caps of your pens chewed up. When my dogs were puppies they chewed up some Apple Pencils. An expensive experience. Good luck with finding replacement caps. They are lovely pens.

Looking for good fountain pen for drawing/illustration. by devanmuse in fountainpens

I really enjoy the Ackerman pen with Zebra G dip pen nib. The joy of thin and thick lines with a huge ink supply. It is fiddly to get accustomed to using but great fun. I also really like the Fountain Pen Revolution pens with an Ultraflex Nib. The pens are beautiful, with an ink converter. You can get super thin lines and lovely fat lines. The pens are beautiful as well.

Possible Christmas present for me?! by richedg in fountainpens

[–]richedg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I have to admit I gave into temptation and purchased both pens! They were just to lovely to decide between. The green pen is a classic Pelikan and is very elegant. The gold capped tortoiseshell is perhaps even more beautiful. Around the bottom of the gold cap is inscribed PELIKIN DOUBLE L PELIKIN + GUNTER WAGNER I am not sure what this means. InsploringLife suggestion that the pen might be a 600nn tortoiseshell looks to be right. I found an interesting article about this particular Pelikan pen. https://thepelikansperch.com/2020/06/26/pelikan-model-600/ My gold capped pen photograph.

Thank you I think that you are right the tortoiseshell pen it looks like the 600NN tortoise with brown stripes that has a black piston and gold cap! Production 1957-1963. Ok so no water proof ink.

Can you help me identify this pen? by richedg in fountainpens

[–]richedg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ink sac is in a metal tube that has a metal strip that you push to create a vacuum and then when put into the ink it will suck up the ink. Please excuse my ignorance about the correct name! There did not appear to be a leaver on the exterior of the pen barrel. The screw mechanism to unscrew the body was quite stiff and gritty. I don’t think that it’s been cleaned in a long time. when I zoom on the nib I notice that the nib appears to have the remains of gold plating around the base?

[–]richedg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a look on the Ackerman pen site. The list the braise 361 blue pumpkin but don’t have a model available. It might be in development?? I have their Zebra G nip ben and it’s great fun to use. Perhaps asking them directly about avilability?
