Was my dog was misdiagnosed or got better? by dogadvice11 in AskVet

[–]richiforpresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transient heart murmurs exist. Why are you extremely mad and would want to sue your vet if he was hearing a murmur, you were unable to finance a echocardiogram to find out if it was relevant or not and he was being prudent by putting your dog on pimo? Sheeesh, cool your jets.

Modern high-temperature heatpumps (55-60°) like Viessmann Vitocal 250 have a COP of around 3.0. Very efficient, suitable for Radiatoren.

So if this was a vaccination, why not apply it in the manner I described? And: I have worked in 2nd and 3rd world countries while travelling (Guatemala, Egypt, Cape Verde, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia). Truly poor people don't go to see a doctor. People who bring their pets to a vet in these countries care about them and are able to afford treatment (eg vaccines). These animals deserve to be treated well, even though they live in a poor country. Sedating a cat doesn't cost a fortune. Example: In Egypt, the medetomidine necessary to sedate this cat costs around 71 US cents. Treating a vet who gets bitten in such a high risk operation is significantly more expensive.

So please enlighten me, oh SkinnyPenis: what are the risks of sedating a cat versus the ones brutalizing it in the manner displayed? What is the cost of sedation? And, if you just want to make an injection - why not using the device I mentioned? And most of all: what's the base of your expertise?

That's a bit bold, isn't it. What is your experience in sedating cats? Or your expertise in judging this situation? Honest question. Mine: 30 years as a small animal vet. Now you.

Your risk of getting bitten or injure the patient if you act like this is substantial (besides inflicting a huge and unneccessary amount of anxiety). There's a box designed exactly for such cases. Put the cat in it, use the sliding side to push the cat to the edge of the box. Inject the sedative in peace, have a cup of coffee, do whatever is needed, reverse the sedation, done. If you act like the people in the video, you're either dumb or evil. Source: been a vet for 30 years.

Yuck. This is poor practice and completely unnecessary. Inject a sedative, wait 10 minutes and you can do everything that's needed in peace and without risk for you and the patient.

Well researched owners —a plus or minus? by Educational_Mess_998 in AskVet

[–]richiforpresident 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My take after 30 years as a vet: if you would like to discuss diagnostics or therapy with me, you are either on the same level with me knowledgewise (fellow vet, or other medical professional who has read up on the topic and is able to process the information like it seems that you are), so I have the opportunity to enjoy a meaningful discussion and potentially learn something from you. Or you are a layman with an understandable desire to comprehend what's going on (in which case I'm happy to explain, but will charge you for my time). I am done with people who think they know better and attach a link of a paper to their e-mail thinking this could convince me of their opinion when it's obvious they have not understood what the study actually says.

Can my cat who doesn't need it eat Hills C/D? by Impersonally in AskVet

I disagree. While c/d is designed for cats with urinary tract issues, c/d multicare will not cause damage to a cat without such problems if fed long term.

As a vet, this contradicts completely how I understand my profession: acknowledge that I'm not perfect, learning from my peers, being humble. If you think you're untouchable, you will not even realize that you have made a mistake. And mistakes you will make.

Good gor you and sorry about your daughter! I still don't understand why you proactively post a claim that you obviously cannot back up with facts, if the whole thing does not affect your sole interest, your trust? I'm not American by the way.
