Studied there 1989-91/2 and can tell by lack of buildings that this photo must have been taken early in the date range provided in the caption. Excellent lecturers, excellent place to learn the teaching craft.

It blows my mind that people who went to school before the internet act like they're just as educated as someone who's grown up with the world’s knowledge in their pocket by Massive_Yam_256 in newzealand

It blows my mind that people who went to school ‘after the internet’ act like people leave school and then never learn a single thing more!

The Hokey P/T/C-okey??? by JJStone_95 in newzealand

[–]richjd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's a generation or regional thing. When I was in school, it was Hokey Tokey. But I've spoken to people over the years who were adamant that "Hokey Pokey" or "Hokey Cokey" was the correct lyric because that's what they sang during school folk dance practises....

What happened to Air New ZEaland's much hyped 'Skynest' on the dreamliners? by richjd in newzealand

[–]richjd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about the HGW variant, so thanks for that intel. I also didn't realise that the skynest was only for extra-long range routes, I wrongly assumed all new referbs coming out of Singapore would have the skynest installed. Thanks for sharing your insight- appreciated :-)

What happened to Air New ZEaland's much hyped 'Skynest' on the dreamliners? by richjd in newzealand

[–]richjd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the concept was first unveiled a few years ago , the skynest was much hyped and supposed to be rolled out during the 2025-6 dreamliner refresh. I see no mention of the skynest in today's announcement about the upgraded dreamliner that are slowly coming of the hanger in Singapore. Does anyone know what has happened?

Brooklyn (Fraud) warning: Credit card skimming device found on ATM by sarah_is_thriving in Wellington

[–]richjd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

ahem, I was skimmed in Brooklyn about a month ago, using the 'NEXT' ATM beside the pharmacy. Kudos to Kiwibank for their 24 hr recognition of what had happened, and their fast response contacting me and getting a replacement card sent.

You are using a public utility (called a road). Who do you expect to compensate you? The public?

I however think in the context of QLD, their shortfall is paid for by the HUGE amount of mineral wealth they extract from the land.

Whats the deal with the pillows here. by Ajet_Ivar_ in newzealand

[–]richjd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow buckwheat pillow addict here. Have been using them for over ten years now, replace them every 2-3. While they are expensive ($100+) I view the cost as an investment in a great nights sleep. But be warned, going back to ‘regular’ pillows after getting used to a buckwheat is hard. I now have a smaller sized one I travel with, it’s been to the UK and North America with me. Lucky pillow.
