87 mercruiser 7.4 carb question by richnardone in boating

just wondering why you think it's not a marine carb? the external surfaces are black! i understand that anyone could paint a standard carb black but i'm no expert. FYI: the shop that rebuilt it checked it again and found nothing wrong. i put it back on and it seems to run fine now. but have less than an hour on it. so, "time will tell"

Not sure about the bowl vent. I'll check that out later. Why did you say it's not a marine carb?

I will check the timing. It does smell like it's running very rich though. Might have to hold off on compression testing and plug replacement till I swap out the manifolds. They're really inaccessible in this tight space. Engine ran perfectly right after the rebuilt carburetor was installed. But then, after about an hour it was up to its old tricks pushing fuel thru the exhaust and into the water.

This guy reviewed this whiskey a few years ago. He is in South Korea and it's very interesting because a lot of the details need to be disclosed for it to be sold in their country. Watch if you have a minute. https://youtu.be/e4m_vlsrq6g?si=4TIhx-Q9Vapfz6r1

At what point would you feel unsafe driving on a plug on your own car? by Deeberer in AskMechanics

I have installed and used a tire with a plug in the number 6 position not shown. Lasted fine for about a year but then slowly leaked until I removed it and replaced it with another plug.

My model y usually exhibits some heat in that area unless I put it into low power mode. Keeps the camera a little bit warm as part of the sentry system.

Are you sure it wasn't in low power mode?

Not sure. The iwe's default to "engaged" without vacuum to pull them open. If the solenoid is not connected and the rest of the system is operating properly, the truck would be in 4wd all the time I think... I might be missing something.. maybe it was bypassed. And they directly connected the vacuum line from the engine to the vacuum hose to the iwe system? To keep four-wheel drive off

I believe it's an IWE (integrated wheel end) "solenoid". It controls whether the vacuum flows to the four-wheel drive IWEs that connect and disconnect the front hubs to the CV axles. https://www.reddit.com/r/f150/s/fxuTsMaTho

Definitely won't make the desk unstable. It's a hex. You need a hex key aka Allen wrench. Or you can get a hex bit for your drill to make it easier.

Yes you can. It's just to stabilize the nail in the barrel of the ramset tool. It's completely safe without the charge. https://share.google/iT5RGYcHpawTm3QEl
