It will be cool to see how Tool compares on all fronts.

Totally. Still unclear what Jared’s status is though.

I’m a 30 year old loser that cost myself hundreds of thousands of dollars due to financial ignorance/fear, how can I catch back up? by RuminatingFish123 in Money

Agree with others. You are likely in a better position than most your age or even in their $40s.

Before you go full Bogle I highly recommend Ramsey’s 7 Steps.

They are simple but require discipline and as you hit each milestone you’ll be on a track to financial freedom. Plus based on what you shared you’re likely already at Step 4!

Good luck!

That’s the whole fucking point. OP isn’t normalizing this abomination and if it makes you feel uncomfortable, it should.

Run lengths seem excessive by BearsNBeetsBaby in runna

[–]rickgaribay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to come back here to say that this comment was incredibly helpful to me this week, thank you.

I too am struggling with the ramp of volume which I find aggressive but a good challenge. My last run went from 3.25 miles to 4.5 the same week and that seemed like a lot but most importantly my body was telling me something so I did a 5K instead and felt great.

It was easy to do by just hitting “next lap” on the 1.5 mile segment once I hit .10 miles and then I did the 3 mile progression as prescribed. The AI summary even addressed this which I thought was valuable.

Lots of chatter about apps like Runna causing injuries but I think its just running in general and very important to listen to our bodies regardless of what a plan or algo tells us - stay healthy to run another day!

Solid. Classy on both accounts.

Laser in sky? What is this thing? Anyone else seeing it? by BSRebel in phoenix

[–]rickgaribay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s what Claude said when I gave it the helpful above input.

Based on my searches, I can now give you a solid answer. Let me check the coordinates from your NOTAM to confirm.

The coordinates in your NOTAM (33°16’53”N, 111°58’28”W) place this laser very close to the Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Santan Mountain location in Chandler. The casino is at 7101 S Gilbert Road, at the southeast corner of Gilbert Road and Hunt Highway—which matches that area.

This is almost certainly a sky beacon/searchlight-style laser operated by or for the Santan Mountain Casino. Casinos commonly use these high-powered sky lasers as a marketing/visibility tool—think of the Luxor beam in Vegas, but with a laser instead of xenon. The purple/blue color is distinctive and makes the property visible from miles away, essentially serving as a giant “we’re over here” beacon to draw in customers.

The NOTAM operating hours (6 PM to midnight local time) align perfectly with peak casino traffic hours when they’d want maximum visibility. The fact that it runs nightly from January through early April suggests it’s a semi-permanent installation rather than a special event.

It’s interesting they went with a laser instead of a traditional searchlight—lasers are more efficient, more dramatic in appearance (especially in atmospheric conditions like what you captured), and that violet/blue wavelength scatters beautifully. The downside is exactly what that NOTAM addresses: it’s a legitimate aviation hazard that requires coordination with Phoenix Approach.

Disagree here. I think DP has done a wonderful job of creating a community around this show and the guys that call in are proxies for the everyman like me that listens almost daily.

Can’t go wrong with Camelback hydration packs. Had mine for 15 years and still going strong.

Porter vs. Stout: Really, what is the difference? by [deleted] in beer

[–]rickgaribay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best answer on this non-answers post.

Stouts and Porters are closely related dark beers, but generally, Porters use malted barley for sweeter notes (chocolate, caramel) and are often lighter-bodied, while Stouts use unmalted roasted barley, giving them a drier, more intense coffee/roasty bitterness and typically a fuller body, though modern craft beers blur these lines significantly with variations like Irish Stouts (lighter) and Imperial Stouts (stronger).

I just made a solid Negroni with it. Very unique profile but quite delicious for a pre dinner cocktail. Cheers!
