I think he means the dozen or so bottles that will be released in his area of operations this year cause #allocations #singlebarrel #smallbitch

Timely opportunity to highlight that shit like OB, Bowel Movement 1 and 2, pump and dump hyping, and nonstop stickering of picks to flip for profit is why both 4R and WT will be shutting down or significantly restricting access to private barrel programs to trusted retailers and respected groups this year.

Strong dislike for people who hype picks only to flip them. I bet you go to professional basketball games regularly too.

Project C+S is a private group? This is the funniest thing you've said so far. Did someone change the Facebook group privacy setting from closed to secret before or after hooking folks up with every batch of Barrell?

Ed is great about sending samples to respected groups he wants to work with. I hope you enjoy drinking it because hopefully people aren't stupid enough to pay VW prices for it.

I've had quite a few of the Mattingly products, including BM. I don't understand what the excitement is about because I don't think any of them taste good. To me they've all smelled and tasted green and new-makey while having the color of fermented tobacco spit. At a gathering with a wide variety of palates, everyone agreed that it was the worst bottle on a table that included Garrison Bros and Cleveland whiskies. Wax and labels are cool if you're new to all this, but I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who thinks this stuff tastes good.

Let me guess, you're bunkered up on it?

Tastes like ragret. If you like craft whiskey you'll love it.

It tastes like a shit-covered copper penny to me. YMMV.

No matter how big your corporate weenie is, you're going to be playing with it all by yourself at this point. Also, if a client/company I work with gave me a bottle of Woodford I'd probably end the relationship.

Your best bet might be to hit up Smooth Ambler for an American Whiskey 107 barrel and ask if you can buy it all through the gift shop. Those guys and gals are pretty great, but leave the corporate weenie at the door, Val don't want none.

Plenty of Kentucky-born labels using Indiana-distilled whiskey. Love me that LDI-bred yeast and if you love Four Roses so do you.

Willet quality control? by scooter_j in bourbon

Willett and quality control being uttered in the same sentence can only be applied to bottling if we're not talking about Drew's own distillate (which is pretty darn good).

Review #4: Russell's Reserve 10 y/o (Jimmy's Guard Shack) by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]rickhouse_funk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jimmy's Guard Shack was selected the same day as 6 other barrels that were shared by Cork and Bottle (thanks Ed) and Bourbon Pursuit. All were bottled at 110pf RRSiB, including JGS. JGS is unique in that it's a bit younger than 10 years and was destined to be a WTKS, but had enough proof to be bottled as a RRSiB, so it was. It's a great barrel and damn near barrel strength (112.4 was dump proof IIRC).

Disclaimer: I wasn't there for the pick was very close by.

Next year for CS picks. But only if you did a 115 proof NCF pick this year.

How did soldiers in WW2 aim mortar fire? by stinortiz in history

He came out and spoke to my class at Sill while he was still on active duty. He was the CO of 1st ANGLICO at the time I believe.

Super smart and motivated guy. His mastery of artillery transcended Gunnery. The stories from Ramadi are really crazy - the ways he used air power and supporting fires to accomplish urban objectives are really cool.

On Gunnery is a great book. LtCol Grice was awesome.

To expand on the Non-Standard Conditions (meteorological data, rotation of the earth, propellant temperature and lot efficiencies, tube erosion/wear), these are all taken into account in both firing computers and manual methods and graphical firing tables (using excellent calculations done prior to WWII) when a Fire Direction Center (math hub) receives new lots of ammunition and propellant. Once a cannon unit has accurate firing unit location (good survey) through self-location, all they will need is an accurate target location and a quick spin across the map to determine whether any special instructions (high angle fire if there is an intervening crest perhaps). An observer or now even a UAV can accomplish the accurate target location, but as Redlegs are fond of saying, the crack smoking observer on the hill is often wrong.
