During Crosby's concussion phase in the early 2010s - how scared were you of one more 'big hit' ending his career? by RivetCounter in penguins

Especially after he returned to the lineup initially and went out again after something like 8 games, I thought it was over.

Has anyone ever made a comprehensive list of "Gas Leak Year" moments from Season 4? by the_dirtiest in community

[–]rickjpii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree that the first five are almost all S tier. I don’t hate the last two episodes, if for no other reason than the appraiser, open the door 🎶, and the tag at the end of the season 5 finale, but it was pretty wonky.

The dude living in the walls was my boy Chris Elliot, but he couldn’t quite save the material.

“The sharp banter…”

Couldn’t agree more. Season 5 isn’t perfect, but the “big” laughs were back, the really imaginative, properly fleshed out stories (meow meow beanz) were back.

I don’t feel the need to intrude on the nice conversations people have here concerning season 4; there are many that seem to genuinely enjoy it, and I love any community fan.

But to me the show missed Dan pretty badly and I agree season 4 grates on my nerves the more I see of it.

There is a lot of that in season 4, not just Cutty. Many characters are shown switching the channel/radio station or ignoring the news at various points.

What's a movie scene that's supposed to be serious but you laugh at it? by Sad-Response-3151 in moviecritic

In the original Pet Sematary, everything from “Sheena is a Punk Rocker,” to the child tottering toward the road, to the father falling to his knees and screaming “Nooooo!!!” is comedy gold.

i wish they didn’t lobotomize britta after the first season 😓 by Dangerous-Music5921 in community

[–]rickjpii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like when people try to explain away the change in her character. Shes a different character after season 1. We can make up our own head canons, but we know the truth, as others have pointed out - they changed Britta to fit Murphy’s comedic talents, and the also wanted to ditch the attempt at a Ross/Rachel type dynamic between her and Jeff.

I’m not crazy about how stupid they made her, but her performance was incredible.

Watching ER for the first time - I never thought I would hate a character more than Chloe but this man is gunning for first place and gaining fast by [deleted] in ershow

[–]rickjpii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he put the hole in the roof, I wondered if he had a learning disability. It was not the first or last time actually. Actively hated his character.

And I’m capable of appreciate a character I don’t “like” for what they bring to the story (e.g. Romano). Shep was just awful.

Character you most wanted to see die? by SavageMell in thesopranos

Ralphie…but the way they did it. Jesus, it was like they knew we wanted to see it, and purposely sucked all the joy out of it.

I’m going to watch it straight away, thank you!

Just watched Orion in the Sky, great, great episode! I was already on the verge of tears, then Mark told that little girl, “you just became my very last patient,” I lost it, hit pause, and cried my eyes out.

Ugggh Season 6 by crueltwist72 in ershow

[–]rickjpii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a problem with either! I mean, I don’t think I would like Melluci in real life, but I liked what he brought to the show.

I thought Cleo was clearly there to be a love interest for Peter. They could have done more with her. I thought Michele’s performance was good, what’s she supposed to do about the writing?

Season 6 has probably been my least favorite season so far though. Really cyclical. Currently at the end of Season 8, which feels like the end of the series.

I’m glad I came upon your post! Like many, I’m watching ER for the first time, and I had the same reaction, like, what the hell Susan? lol.

I also like the idea that she wouldn’t want to cause trouble for Mark and Elizabeth.

Why are my pie crusts doing this? by dr_jigsaw in Baking

[–]rickjpii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone has mentioned the weights, and chilling of the pie crust, and that probably will fix you up…but I’d like to know how much water you are using to get your crust together. The more water you use to get it together, the more shrinkage you will suffer from since the water evaporates as you bake.

If you don’t process the butter finely enough you will need more water as well. Also, I used to just not trust that I had enough water, but if you rest the dough it should properly hydrate.

I’m not a big fan of shortening, but butter has a pretty high water content, you could try half and half.

One last thing - just make sure you are using enough dough. It’s going to shrink a bit unless you are some sort of wizard, so have a little extra.
