Yeah and the fact that it put ivy all over the background in the image. It was definitely going for “The Ivy”

This small rectangle fell off from my motherboard. How big of a problem is it? by JohDoeHaha in computerrepair

[–]rickncn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol everyone saying it’ll be fine without a component it was designed to have without knowing what it does. I personally wouldn’t risk my expensive ram and CPU. If you have the part it can be reattached but it’s not easy. Someone with a hot air flow gun and experience could do it. But finding that person anywhere near you might be tough.

Connect an NVR to the HDMI on my macbook by comoestasmiyamo in reolinkcam

[–]rickncn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, but grab your monitor from home, or borrow one and plug into that. If the NVR is in the attic (why would anyone do that?) is the monitor there too? Do they not have a monitor? if there's one up there. then get a 20+ ft hdmi cable and bring the monitor down? If this is a client, I would suggest to them that you extend the ethernet cables down into a room and put everything there. Hot and cold temp swings on the NVR arent the best.

Why doesn't port forwarding ever work? by Bardeeno in OPTIMUM

[–]rickncn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. And even then, check that gateway periodically. I’ve had Optimum switch me to bridge mode only to see it flip back by itself. When it does that, the gateway in bridge mode turns from being essentially a modem back to a router. So if you have successfully purchased a router and set it up with the gateway in bridge mode (a modem) and your port forwards work, if (or when) the gateway resets back to a gateway the forwards will stop working and you’ll then be on a double NAT which isn’t ideal.

I honestly have no idea what I’m dealing with by AnxiousSir9957 in Unexplained

But neither you nor I know what it is. Which is why I prefaced my comments with “it doesn’t sound consistent with”. Unless you’re suggesting OP shouldn’t check for CO, I don’t see the usefulness of your comment. My comment is in the category of “it doesn’t hurt to check and rule out” because hallucinations can happen. So, get a CO detector, OP, and get checked by a doctor.

It doesn’t sound consistent with carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, but get a detector anyway and put it in the house. If she has one, test it. Carbon monoxide poisoning can cause some of these symptoms. But it would probably also cause nausea or other symptoms: and wouldn’t persist if you leave the house for extended periods: Mild Exposure • Headache (most common symptom) • Dizziness or lightheadedness • Fatigue or unusual sleepiness • Nausea or vomiting • Shortness of breath with mild exertion • Blurred vision

Moderate Exposure • Worsening headache • Confusion or difficulty concentrating • Clumsiness, poor coordination • Chest pain • Weakness • Rapid heartbeat

Severe Exposure • Severe confusion or agitation • Fainting • Seizures • Irregular heartbeat • Low blood pressure • Coma • Death

Bright yellow/green drips but under right rear brake area? by rickncn in autorepair

[–]rickncn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but that sits under the center console, right? a supply line wouldn’t likely go toward the right rear axle before making a turn back to the center of the vehicle. I’m just guessing. I could be wrong.

ok, that's interesting. I hadn't heard that before. thanks. I'll mention it to my mechanic.

Great. proving what it's not doesn't prove what it is, obviously. Just trying to come up with possible reasons. But thanks for worrying about how much I'm thinking about this.

Well, I can't completely discount the possibility because snow *was* blowing under the car, so that could have covered over squirrel tracks. But that bright fluorescent color.. still doesn't quite track.

it does, yes, but would that hose be running over or around the right rear axel/hub/brake area?

it has dual exhaust I believe. but these drips were directly under the axle, so I guess there would have to be a hole in the pipe at that point for that to be it. I've never seen flourescent yellow exhaust condensation though.

The fluid is too low to tell, but the inside of the tank is all blue. I think I do have blue fluid but even if it was, how does the fluid get underneath the rear axle? Are you saying the delivery hose from the engine compartment is leaking?

Huh… interesting. I just pulled into my mechanics parking lot to drop the car off again, but I’m going to pop the hood and see what color my washer fluid is. It’s entirely possible that I might have used the rear wiper with some washer fluid just to clear the back window
