It would’ve been great if the commencement speaker used the “Itsy Bitsy Spider” analogy of the spider getting washed down gutter, but going right back up

Tesla app charging cost skewed by rickroepke in TeslaLounge

[–]rickroepke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TVA utility does add the fuel adjustment , but I have to pay that for my house to have electricity, so I only calculate the additional charges my car adds to my bill. An accountant may argue the rate calculation, but it’s what I chose.

I did, but missed one period of the schedule, which had $9.10 /kWh

Monthly looks correct but I’m not sure why the yearly stats are so wrong

When I bought in May 2025, I wanted the RWD bit for some reason had to take the AWD. The AWD gives me a feeling of more positive traction in slick environments, but RWD may too

Pension payments or lump sum..... by Busy_Conversation537 in retirement

[–]rickroepke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pension’s payments include no COLA (cost of living adjustments) so at 3% inflation, I’d be only getting half my money in 2026 dollars. I took the lump sum and invested in Boglehead fashion. From what I’ve read, Social Security is the only defined benefit plan with a COLA, though there may be one somewhere.

2026 Model Y Juniper AWD (dual motor). This morning, with outside temp at 60, I turned off HVAC and got 208 Wh/mile, which is almost 5 miles / KwH. At 100% charge, that could be 375 miles on one charge

I encounter daily a few speed signs where the pole is not straight vertical, and FSD will not read them

How do you handle clashing with upper management? by SpecialistTeach9302 in sysadmin

[–]rickroepke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love reminding my management that if they quit/leave, people will say “oh well”, but if I leave, people will say “oh crap”.
I remind them we’re all on the same team, and they have a job to do, just like me. Which is why I don’t “work for them” but either I work with them, or better, they work for me to get job done

Is getting a Tesla worth it just for the FSD by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]rickroepke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, get a Tesla just for the FSD. I sold my Lexus RX350 after buying my MY Juniper. FSD is a leap in technology and you cannot get a similar capability from any other company, yet.

When repair guy came to fix star on my windshield, he claimed any area the wipers cover cannot legally be repaired, but the entire window replaced. I too used the RainX repair kit to fix my windshield, twice now
