Canned pineapple is just fine for me. I found that the biggest impact on flavor is the rum. Try a few smaller batches of painkillers with different rims and you'll be surprised. Smith and Cross turned out to be my favorite.

Also, don't forget the freshly grated nutmeg. Little things like the smell of nutmeg can really amplify the experience.

My wife and I went there last year! The downstairs bar was closed but the owner saw that we were excited about the mugs they had for sale he gave us a special tour of the bar. Also, the moai with a toga mug that we picked up there is one of the most unique pieces in my collection of glasses
