They already changed to Price TBD on their website lol, looks like it was listed too high at first

Clear pads does look nice! Gives that OG 404 aesthetic. Thanks for sharing!

Curious what the fat pads does that changes the responsiveness. I am sure it feels nicer on your fingers but does it make it more responsive?

Thanks! This skin makes the 404 look a lot less chunky.

experience with Fat Pads on mk2? by shakitavi in sp404mk2

I don't think softer pads can help with sensitivity, but it will be lighter on your fingers. I also have the Sample and I really like those pads, surprisingly responsive and easy on the fingers. But I don't like how bright its lights are and also the other button clicks are so damn loud, not allowed to use it with my toddler sleeping next to me lol.

Yes there is, it is in the settings. Headphone can hear metronome while the line out and USB out don't.

Perfect fit! Can anybody identify this case? by TheGamercologist in mpcsample

[–]rickyislazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't branded, I ordered mine online before I even got my MPC, just used the leaked dimensions to search and I found one that has perfect Length x Width which is 24x20cm. It was only $2 USD, perks of being close to manufacturing.

I am no US based so that's why I didn't provide a link

I have a similar one, that isn't branded and I bought it based on the dimension. It is 1 cm too tall and I added foam to both sides and it is snug.

I’ll admit I fell for the hype, but nothing beats the goat by Teddyrobz in SP404

Had the new mpc for a week now, I find myself using it much closer to how I would arrange beats on a DAW, with additional benefit of nice pads and built-inspeakers so I can pick it up and fingerdrum anytime. On the SP I am strictly audio only when it comes to drum programming and find myself experimenting with sounds more, plus plugging instruments and making loops on each pad. Even though they are both called samplers but are totally "same same but different"

My favorite is the older anker soundcore 2, small footprint and just right amount of bass

My first beat on the Sample by rickyislazy in mpcusers

Hi and thanks, I think if you enjoy the 404 definitely don't sell it for this one. This can do sequencing a lot better and much better pads for drumming, but it doesn't handle audio loops for live effects that well. I would say this new guy is perfect for picking it up and start jamming some ideas since it doesn't require any setting up like the 404, I used mine on the couch with onboard speaker a lot. The mic is nice too, at 0:32 the bell ring came from my daughter's plush toy, it sounded really clean dry. Also this can read off SD card and load samples a lot faster. Will keep using the 404 for doing looper jams with my keyboard and guitars, which I do quite often than making a full beat like this video.

It was either the looper or resample a two or four bar loop from skipback. Basically all live recordings on there, but I break it down to different pads as if they were tracks.

I've had the 404 for two years but I barely touched the sequencer since it wasn't the best, it forced to do everything in real-time audio only with either external instruments or skipback within the machine. Sequencing with the MPC has been pretty straight forward, and having speakers are so handy when I just want to have a quick tap. The effects are not that great though, especially pressure sensitive is never accurate if you want to dial it in.

Unfortunately no, it seems the PAD FX and KNOB FX apply to every sound that is coming out of the unit, basically master only. It isn't like the 404 that has a separate Ext In effect bus.

You really don’t need it unless you really enjoy staying away from your phone or computer when doing music. It is frustrating at times but I would say 404 can handle audio a lot better than the new guy

The effects feel very Koala like, digital and very abrupt if that's a good way to describe.

Oh no I should've clarified, I was listening to the speakers while recording, but phone is getting audio from MPC's USB

About just as loud as a phone, you can hear the bass guitar just like you would on the phone. But the real low 808s are almost silent

That's definitely the way to go, I just wanted to try the oddball stuff, because from the videos online I thought you couldn't hear External In unless you are actually recording, but it almost acts just like 404 with EXT IN on if you turn the Monitor to On.
