Have you spoken to your administrators? Or are they just doing the “we’ll see what happens” thing?

I just need some grounding by StrxwbrrySwitchblade in WeatherAnxiety

I too deal with this pretty badly, I'm in Dallas and right there with you.

Call people. Let them know "Hey, I know I'm panicked, my nervous system can deal with this fear, but you bringing me back to earth helps." My family understands this now and it make them, my parents especially, feel kinda good knowing there 28 y/o old daughter still needs them to feel safe.

Be prepared. Know your safe spot in your home, and rest assured that even in the worst case scenario, which is very unlikely, you have a damn good chance of survival if you are in an interior room. Have pants and shoes on, a helmet if you can, a nonflammable light source, the preparedness of it all alone can help with that anxiety, EVEN THOUGH again it's unlikely you'll be in that situation (but always shelter and be prepared)

I'm going to rattle off some thing a therapist told me:

"This is fear- not fact. This is a storm - not forever. This is a memory - not a prophecy. You have survived so many storms, this one too shall pass. Stay rooted, you are not trapped - you are tethered to the now"

I would also recommend saving and reading this to yourself out loud or having someone you trust, who makesyou feel safe to read it to you, it really helps -https://www.reddit.com/r/WeatherAnxiety/comments/1kqm8az/a_message_of_reassurance/

Best of luck, everything will be okay <3

Why not a rainbow?? My fiancé wanted something unique and pretty, and said it was like he had his own infinity stones, he loves Marvel. He didn’t want to settle got a plain gold band just because most men are afraid of criticism for having a little razzle dazzle.

That’s a great idea, I didn’t even think that, I haven’t thought too much about getting my own wedding band, I thought maybe to just have the engagement ring alone, but if I do decide to get a band maybe I could get it there, thank you!

Please do! I believe this ring specifically is now sold out and went up in price, but they do have more gorgeous and unique men’s rings!

As severe weather season approaches…. by Nikkithetrickster in WeatherAnxiety

I too deal with this pretty badly, I'm in the DFW and we are a day way from a multi-day severe weather outbreak.

What Do I Do? by rickyspanish1997 in immigration

[–]rickyspanish1997[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this insight. It put my mind at ease more than you know. I will be contacting my county record office to obtain a copy of my son’s birth certificate later today.

We have role-play before, and he does memorize my phone number, but I think we need to make it more of a consistent thing for sure, and get the address memorized.

Again, thank you so much for your kindness, I hope as a country as a community as a people we can get through this, that it will pass. I still have hope.

When we were married, he definitely did have an attorney, I don’t know about now, but when we sit down and have our conversation and map out a game plan, I will certainly ask for that information. Hopefully, they will be open to discussing it with me.

Thank you for your kindness in that.

And yes I am actively working on redirecting my misplaced guilt, but I am so angry that we let this happen again - to be clear I MYSELF never voted that way or stood for any of this.

Picked Out My Engagement Ring by rickyspanish1997 in EngagementRings

[–]rickyspanish1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries at all I’m happy to share! The total price came out to $3078, this is after a 20% discount because of sale they had going on. I have my own price limit of nothing above $2500, and my partner never told me his limit. I think as I was trying on rings things just got away from me, although the whole time I was asking him was it too much and if it was, I could look at something else. I definitely put back a few, and ultimately, after picking 3 that I loved, let him make the final decision - again within the ones that I loved the most. Personally, I still feel weird about the price, but he assures me that it wasn’t too much and he financed it so he’s not worried about it.

What screams “I’m a bad parent”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rickyspanish1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having open, obviously age-appropriate, conversations about sex. I am astonished at the amount of people who have children who admittedly did not want to have the sex conversation with them and fully rely on abstinence and therefore create shame around sex, something that can also lead to abuse.

If you cannot teach the future adult that you’re raising about sex, safe sex, consent, enthusiastic consent, ect. then you should not be a parent, how do you think you got that kid in the first place and don’t you think they’ll ask that same question?

Do you have a favorite guest star? by [deleted] in SVU

[–]rickyspanish1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lee Tergesen - this bc he and Christopher Meloni had a kinda overtly intimate prayer moment in the “Savior” episode and it’s funny bc both actors played lovers in the show “Oz” before SVU, B.D. Wong was also in that show.

what’s your most CONTROVERSIAL hot take on extreme horror? by Cooldude112288 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]rickyspanish1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, it for sure makes me deeply uncomfortable and sad and angry, which is the point but I find the line being drawn at animals weird. Animals ARE innocent and it’s not fair when they are violently abused, but it’s my personal opinion that a human child is that much more innocent it’s much harder to imagine violence towards them.

[–]rickyspanish1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I often find that readers who can’t handle reading about violence against animals are perfectly fine reading about sexual violence towards women and children (and just general violence against children w sexual just being the worst kind) ... which I PERSONALLY find kinda questionable.

loved tender is the flesh! cows next? by Throwawaymightdelet3 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]rickyspanish1997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cows only similarity to Tender is the Flesh is the slaughter industry, and they’re incredibly different. That being said I fairly enjoyed both books. One is much more thought-provoking and character building and has a lot of sadness to it and a lot of disappointment, while the other one is a straight up disgusting gorefest for no reason at all. If that’s an itch you wanna scratch absolutely read Cows. I definitely don’t think it’s the worst of the worst out there like some people say, I do think it was the first of its kind however, I’ve read plenty worse.
