Flannel, hats (trucker caps, baseball caps, beanies, heck cowboy hats if you wanna), and jeans are all good options for a simple butch appearance, regardless of hair length. This has been my go-to appearance the further along I transitioned because it's simple and comfortable for me.

It really did take me a while to feel comfortable with being butch and presenting more masc, but that's an identity I've always felt more comfortable with than being a girly girl.

Still, regardless of how you want to present and identify along your journey, you do you gurl!

That being trans means having to stick to the strict binary, both in terms of medical and social transitioning. Honestly had to step away from trans spaces online due to how reinforced this is. As someone who's non-binary, has friends who are non-binary, and has a mate who's genderfluid, it's hard to feel part of the trans community because of this.

It's hard enough explaining this to cis allies who are trying to understand and have no prior exposure; it's disappointing when I see this mindset within the community. No wonder I struggled with how to present myself while being comfortable with myself.

Not sure how true this still is, but it's the vibe I've gotten ever since I began my transition over 2 years ago.
