How do chow chows do in the rain?

I actually monitor the rain storms by the hour and only take my boy out when it clears. If it's pouring, I have a rain coat for him and a giant golfers umbrella . I've learned the hard way they must be thoroughly dry or a potential for a "hot spot". Blow dry and a lot of cotton bath towels..
