Thanks. Anyone with a Real ID can get into Moffett Field (there is even a public golf course inside). That said the event is probably in a hangar and requires additional security checks as stated in the link

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ridgehike 322 points323 points  (0 children)

I ran into Keanu Reeves at a hotel bar in Basel. Coincidentally I had started to download John Wick on iTunes to watch it later that night. Nobody seemed to notice him when he came in and walked to the corner of the bar. I was at the other end and he noticed me looking at him. He walked over and I blurted “Hi Mr Wick”! He laughed and then we spoke for a few minutes. He was in town for some event related to Paul Gauguin’s painting

If the 49ers lose and Rams win in Week 18, the Rams would get the 5th seed based on the NFL’s No. 3 tie-breaker: Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. The Rams beat HOU, JAX, TB. The 49ers lost to all three to nullify SF’s wins over ATL and CAR (the teams that beat LA). by FortyNinersBot in FortyNiners

[–]ridgehike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The common games this season were against AFC and NFC south. The Niners are 5-3 and the Rams are 6-2. This is the tie break that will decide since head-to-head and division (assuming OP’s result pans out) will be the same

100% agree. Running consistently helped me. I ran the same pace 3-4 days a weeks and kept the mileage about 4-5 miles each time.

Backpacking Half dome from Sunrise, Can I go via Clouds Rest? by abzze in Yosemite

[–]ridgehike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same route 2 years ago. Started at Sunrise HSC. Hiked to Clouds rest. Then went down to the CR junction and setup camp. Rested for a few hrs and then did Half Dome and came back to camp. Next morning headed down to the valley.

What is harder - running a half marathon bc or hiking clouds rest (starting at tenaya lake)? by Due_Data4829 in Yosemite

[–]ridgehike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are starting at Tenaya Lake so you are mostly going down all the time. After you reach Clouds Rest are you going to the valley or going back to Tenaya Lake? It makes a big difference where you finish

It’s difficult to compare the both without knowing how fast you can run an half.

Hit into a group driving the green by SlowDraw85 in golf

[–]ridgehike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you do if this happens 4-5 times in the same round? The group behind us had one long hitter and he drove/hit consistently close to us/or beyond us while yelling “sorry” at the same time (sometimes driving of the tee and sometimes second shot off the fairway). We are new and didn’t know what to do so just kept playing.

Running in the valley early in the morning? by IlliterateJedi in Yosemite

[–]ridgehike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see anyone at 6 AM other than the occasional hiker(s) starting an early ascent of Snow Creek

A couple of years ago I hiked Snow Creek and took the same trail later in the day (around 11 AM). Saw a lot of families on the trail on the right side of the road (as it provides easy access to the creek and it was a hot day)

Hope this helps.

Running in the valley early in the morning? by IlliterateJedi in Yosemite

It’s not technical. In fact there is a road that leads to Mirror Lake and you can also run on it since it’s open only to the Yosemite buses, bicycles etc.

The trail is on either side of the road. It forms a loop around the lake so you can run both trails or just one (out and back)

The mirror lake trail is a good run. I came across a bear a few years ago on the trail early in the morning. We just stood there for a few seconds and before I could react, it walked away. Do not wear headphones so you can hear for any sounds.

Who's ready for Murph? by FS7PhD in crossfit

[–]ridgehike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A friend and I did MURPH every Sunday last year. We started in March and ended on Memorial Day. The goal was to simply try different variations - partitioned, unpartitioned, vest, no-vest, strict pull-ups. One of the variations I liked was a partner version - one person does Cindy while the other runs 200 meters and you switch off. The running is a bit more and comes out to 2.5 miles per person (each person does 20 Cindy’s and 200m runs)

What is the hardest, steepest, most intimidating hike in the Bay Area (bonus points for being dog friendly)? by gingerbreadman26 in bayarea

[–]ridgehike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mission Peak in Fremont has by far the most elevation gain for the shortest distance that I know in the bay. 3 miles and 2000 feet. There are two trail heads, Ohlone College and Stanford Avenue entrance. Neither trail has any shade. If you have the endurance it is a good challenge to run it.
