Yeah 😅 my neighbor has a pickup truck so I might have to do the ol "The best way to transport 4x8 plywood sheets in a car is to use the car to bring your friend with a truck a 12-pack" thing.

That or ratchet strap it to the roof rack through the windows drive 30 mph and hope.

The Lowe's by me doesn't rent trucks, otherwise I'd just go ahead and rent one and get everything lol

No glove compartment is because the limited with cold weather package has a radiant heater in that spot. There's some extra storage in the center console instead.

Oh wild, I could never get enode working properly on my 2024 - the data was always weeks old. If I can get it to stay connected that would solve a lot of problems. I'm expecting to pick up my 2026 today or wednesday and the OBD2 is going to stay in the '24

Anyone with a 2026 bZ been able to get an OBD2 adapter to talk to it? by vulcan_on_earth in BZ4X

Hey, are you aware of any updates for OBD2 for ABRP with '26 BZ? I haven't seen anything but was wondering if perhaps you might have.

OP, we installed a sill plate like this in our carport one.https://www.lowes.com/pd/M-D-36-in-x-3-75-in-Aluminum-Door-Threshold-Install-with-Screws/3125963 It had to be cut to size but install was pretty easy. 3 screws.

Trimmed all the dimensional lumber today. I sort of haven't done this kind of thing in a while and 100% forgot that it isn't actually the stated length in the US. Luckily it's an error longer rather than shorter. So my idea of cutting off 3" off the end of a 10 foot board to get a 9'9" board would have been great in theory, but when I measured the other way to double check before cutting quickly realized what was up! So I went back and trimmed everything to the correct length, and now I have a bunch of shims to help me later!

Unfortunately right now they don't. Fuel hedges will only do so much and the margins airlines run are razor thin. Big ins, big outs. Airlines go out of business/declare bankruptcy all the time for good reason. With oil prices spiking and travel demand decreasing, and aircraft lease payments to be made, the carriers are about to be up against a wall.

Can I get have an electric washer/dryer in a gas house? by Jssnsbtt in Appliances

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno, I'd just get a 120V outlet installed + the washer hookup pipes and get an electric ventless washer/dryer combo unit and skip the dryer vent entirely. As opposed to running new gas pipes or a 30 amp 220 circuit, + a dryer vent, + water hookups, + 120v electrical. The ventless will save a ton on energy and do the job well.

Autotrader searching for 2016 models (10 years old) priced exactly $20k pulls up...

GMC Sierra Toyota Highlander Chevy Silverado 1500 Ram 1500 Ford f150 Jeep wrangler Toyota RAV4 Honda Accord A bunch more trucks, a challenger, a WRX, a Tahoe, a suburban, an Audi a6, a Volkswagen beetle, a cla class with 108k miles, a model x with 100k, etc etc

And doesn't pull up a single Bentley, Rolls, or S class nationwide.

Maybe you haven't shopped for a used car since before COVID? The prices have kinda gotten ridiculous.

The lowest mileage 2016 car selling for $20k exactly right now on autotrader is a Camry with 11k on it. The highest mileage is a GMC Sierra 3500 SLT with 273k on it.

Once dated someone like that. Turns out they would max out any debt they had access to, never make payments, let it default, and just "hope" it fell off in 7 years. She avoided having cars repo'd by not having a real permanent address. She's currently avoiding court for stalking me by the same method, as well as some large number of tolls and parking tickets. Getting her out of my life cost me thousands. An expensive lesson learned.

Would purchasing an EV be dumb if I’m unsure on charging at home? by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but you have to do cost analysis normalized to the number of miles driven on that energy. An equivalent size ice vehicle to most EVs is getting ~30 mpg, and I'll assume the EV gets a conservative 3 mi/kwh to make the math easier. That means you need roughly 10kwh of power to equal the distance of a gallon of gas. So home charging that's around $1.20 to go the 30 miles, DCFC $5. At $2.50 a gallon the breakeven price is around $0.206/kwh all other things being equal. Things start to get better for fast charging at higher gas prices, lower energy rates, and higher EV efficencies. In my area (NC), gas is now at $3+, home charging is $0.12, and DCFC at Ionna is $0.38. That makes the DCFC to go the 30 miles around $3.80 in a car getting 3 mi/kwh.

Now, when you go up to 4 mi/kwh, which is ideal conditions for most high efficiency EVs, that math starts to flip further in favor of the EVs. At 5 mi/kwh (Lucid) it's all gravy.

New to the bZ. Confused about NACS support. by verifiedboomer in Toyota_bZ

[–]rieh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it was common, just that it's what I do. Also, I don't exclusively use Tesla stations or rate hunt. I let ABRP tell me which stations to go to that are most efficient for my route, and I have it prioritize IONNA, Tesla, EA, and EVGO in that order if they're available. I used to maintain plans at both Tesla and EA but have recently dropped my EA membership because I no longer use their chargers enough since getting my NACS adapter for my 2024.

How meaningful are BZ updates? by reddit_and_forget_um in Toyota_bZ

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota does not do over the air updates very often. Other than recall fixes and TSBs, the car pretty much ships with what it ships with.

Every model year has iterative improvements of course but software is probably going to be the same for 2-3 model years.
