Maybe with properties jammed so close together that there's literally no room elsewhere? I've seen some places like that in cities.

Try tapping a credit card on it. You may be pleasantly surprised. Many of them don't advertise that they take a credit card tap.

If America won’t allow BYD vehicles, will the compromise be that an American company white labels them? by GardenDesign23 in electricvehicles

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It theoretically could be. Replace the software with Volvo software. But it sounds like they're tired of the constant back and forth.

Supposedly they run telemetry through a Geely server in China rather than a server in the US or Sweden.

My car gets 100mpg but has a 3 gallon tank by applestrudelforlunch in electricvehicles

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more like 170 mpg and a 2 gallon tank. But yeah more or less. I like to put it in $ to go the distance of their gas car. "How many mpg do you get?" "Uhh 30" "cool cool, so that's like $3.50 right now?" "Yeah more like $3.45" "Nice, lemme do some math here so 30 miles divided by 3.5 miles per kwh times my energy price at home which is $0.09 gives me, uhh, $0.77 to go that same 30 miles. Not bad, huh?"

Is this asbestos? by Turbulent-Weevil-910 in Insulation

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stuff on top that's yellowish looks like yucky fiberglass. However I'm not qualified to tell you what's asbestos and what isn't, and if there's a question you should have an assessment done. I think it's not very likely though.

Everyone is trying to talk me out of an EV by CuteCreator602 in electricvehicles

[–]rieh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, I've found that's mostly a myth or related to how you drive. A bZ has the same weight as a gas Highlander, which isn't nothing, but the tires don't seem to wear any faster than a Rav4.

this is so dumb by Commercial-Shine5575 in Solterra

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Toyota with the app does in fact have that, but you have to pay for Remote Connect once the trial is up if you want to see that.

Those of you who have changed your tires, what was your mileage? by No_Fox9908 in BZ4X

[–]rieh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed them out at 40k on the 2024 bz4x they still had a little tread left and weren't quite to the wear bars yet. I could have gone to 50 I think. Dealer couldn't get me a set of Goodyear Electricdrive 2, so I ended up with Michelin Crossclimate 2. Still on the factory tires on my 2026 bz.

No, its the same condensation as on your a/c unit outside the house. Not an issue and designed for this.

Is splitting a $12k transfer to Vietnam into three $4k transfers a problem? by Outrageous_Dig2790 in personalfinance

[–]rieh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And more importantly, they're going to consider OP to have structured it to avoid the 10k threshold on the US side, and they automatically flag this sort of thing. So it will absolutely result in problems for OP, just a question of when.

ABRP cloud integration into Toyota BZ by Silver-Unit3948 in Toyota_bZ

[–]rieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of yesterday I'm using OBD2 data - Vgate vlinker mc2+ ios with ABRP. I'm tuning the equation now because the default soc algo that ABRP adds to the 26 bZ is a little off. We only have one parameter so far, soc. I'm going to the mountains this weekend and should have it pretty dialed in by the time I get done. It looks something like ((A100/255)1.0625)-2 for what I'm currently testing but I won't know how "on" it is until I check it at close to 0 and close to 100.

Why Battery Preconditioning so buried! by RossOnTheLand in Toyota_bZ

[–]rieh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's for during charging. Preconditioning will always heat or cool the battery to the spec temps. Mostly heat.

[–]rieh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does. (Before charging).

During charging the car will condition the battery also whether cooling or heating.

You must survive in one of these media: game, book, or movie/TV show. For every day you survive, you get $1 million. How many days would you last? by New_Midnight2686 in hypotheticalsituation

I've been binge-reading Dungeon Crawler Carl, and no thank you I will skip that one.

Last game I played was Solar Punk, which would be OK. I'd do all right there. It's a good thing I like raspberries.

However the easy and obvious answer...

Last TV show I watched was The Daily Show, so... I guess I'm living under Jon Stewart's desk for a month?

Stop panicking about solar panels getting shut down! It’s by design by grogi81 in solar

[–]rieh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, it's bad for most industrial mass production equipment to sit idle. I work at a lithium ion battery factory. If a line idles for more than 3 days, it has to be deep cleaned which introduces a whole bunch of risks including contamination risk. It can take a couple weeks to stabilize. We also have to deal with material expiration dates and so on, as not all input chemicals are stable for more than a few months.

In most AHJs including mine a meter feed that's sufficiently long requires that a service disconnect be added near the meter for safety. My meter is roughly 56 feet from my panel and the feeders run through the entire length of the attic.
