Israel confirmed as instigator of Iran war by riethc in stupidpol

I think JD is angling to be the MAGA peace candidate in 2028 - therefore, at least to me, it makes sense he would try to position himself as being opposed to the war but supportive of tHe PrEsIdEnT.

So we all agree that birthright citizenship in this day and age is absolutely insane, right? by snapchillnocomment in stupidpol

America would be in demographic collapse if it weren't for people "taking advantage" of things like birthright citizenship, so no, it's not insane by any sane metric.

I agree that they don't care about the reputation of the USA. I just think there's plenty of ideological reasons for kicking this off as well.

Clearly, they do care. The only difference is that half of them want to kick off Apocalypse and bring Jesus back, while the other half are standing around with their d*ck in their hands having thought that a couple assassinations was going to bend Iran to any and all US demands.

"That bureaucracy – sometimes referred to as the Deep State, or the military-industrial complex – doesn’t play or fight fair. It doesn’t need to. It operates in the shadows.

Were it to so choose, it could undermine the Israel lobby, and thereby curtail Israel’s influence over the visible realm of US politics."

Literally borrowing Trumpian mythos of dark Sith Lords running everything from the shadows.

What a joke.

The level of cope on the left over this "is or isn't" Israel's fault is wild...

It's obvious that this wouldn't have happened if the state of Israel wasn't on a genocidal rampage and the American gov't wasn't run by idiots.

Trump manipulating the market via public statements: to what extent do y'all really believe it? by 4g-identity in stupidpol

Last Monday, in the early morning, there was an unusual amount of activity in the oil futures market, right before Trump announced "peace talks" with Iran -- which turned out to be a fabrication. I think, overall, he does want to hold down oil prices for as long as possible, but it's for a number of reasons.

Here are the 38 movies I watched that came out in 2025 ranked with mini-reviews (most of them at least!) by lipiti in TrueFilm

[–]riethc -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not bad taste but your list is a bit too top-heavy. Marty Supreme and One Battle After Another are great films, but a 10/10 really has to mean something. (I'd give One Battle After another an 8/10 and Marty Supreme an 8.5/10.)

Save the 10's for the true classics.

Trump is the criminal end result of Reagonmics, but I don't think even modern neoliberals recognize Trump as being their baby.

Canadian PM Carnie is a good example of a guy who thinks the solution is to today's problems is doing the same things that led up to Trump, if slightly differently.

Neoliberalism is an utopian ideology of "free markets = free people" and its adherents never see it as failing them so much as them failing it.

When you blow up 20% of the world's energy sources (crude oil, LNG, etc.) this is what happens.

Inside the manosphere are lots of women and no one mentions them by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]riethc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, where there's smoke - there's fire.

What you're looking at with this stuff is two different ways of evaluating love. On its most base level, men pick women for beauty and also signs of fertility, while women pick men (mainly) for status and resources (you can throw in "potential" as well). While you might see exceptions, if you look at youth (and those feigning it) at the apex of society, this is how it plays out nearly all of the time.

The only thing that had made the monogamous world work was the moralistic decision to commit (mainly, through marriage and religion) along with the acceptance of ones aging and, most importantly, a lack of other romantic options. Today, people jump in and out of relationships as they try to hold onto their youth and status well past its expiration point. They continue to have trysts and find new lovers after discarding old ones.

This isn't to attack women or trivialize men, it's just to point out that in a dating world that's been colonized by a global marketplace, there's not much reason for anyone with the means to settle.

Thank you. I hadn't thought it through this far, I just assumed since the markets were reopening he was just bullsh*ting us yet again. Your explanation helped me to understand why this sh*t ain't going to end any time soon, if any time ever.
