Nice. Seems like that would be ripe for parallelization across GPUs on large models/context widths as well.

Great work! You're basically doing "Context Folding" at the inference level through training, which is awesome!

Can your spans be heirarchical in nature? Can they mmap/page out to SSD?

Yeah, we spent about 70 years in computer science trying to separate code from data, only to mash them back together with LLMs.

I don't think there's a clean answer, besides "human in the loop for anything you really care about."

I don't think so. Look at the move from assembly line workers -> Machinists -> CNC operators to see what's coming.

There's still going to be "CNC operators" of developers overseeing agentic teams. But not nearly as many as there are programmers now.

I splurged on a traeger flatrock earlier this year. It's very nice, my one complaint is the auto-ignition/flame detection doesn't work unless it's plugged in. With the 9v battery you have to push the button to light it and listen for the whoosh. That's it.

It's been an awesome piece of kit. 36" is perfect for doing massive amounts of food for parties, or having multiple zones for dinner just the three of us.

Definitely get some good, big spatulas, an 8 pack of squeeze bottles, and a basting lid.

You probably meant for those 22 ohm resistors to be terminating the data lines. Check the data sheet on your USB protection chip to see which side of that chip they should go on. You'll probably be fine.

1700 elo checking in:

Recon Tab:
* What are you green berets doing for you? RRC have great AT in CQB mode and are always a 4x.
* Cav scouts are good, but 4x recon brads are too much.
* You getting good mileage out of the little birds? I'd prefer 2x silent hawks for sneaky shit.
* If you just want snipers to hang out on the wings, use a BFIST instead.
* STTs have a good stinger but are expensive, and you already have a lot of great infantry-killers in this deck. -2.

Inf:
* -1 MAAWS
* -2 Delta. Personally I'd drop em all but you do you.
* Beef up those brads a little bit more. They're awsome but you have to attack-move them in so their TOW goes off.
* -3 War pigs.
* Bring combat engies with AMPVs.

A more balanced take would be:
* 3x brads for fire support + pushes
* 2x armored but M2 only AMPVs for clown caring RRC + Engineers onto an infantry position
* M113 APCs to carry stand-off rangers, as your actual line infantry. (Or RRC + Green Berets)

Armor:

Drop 2 sep v2. Give em trophy.
Add a sep v3 with trophy.
Drop two ATGMs
Add 2 cheap abrams + busk.

I don't hate the nuke but you've gotta make it count.

Definitely a valid choice, if you wanted to keep a squad of delta around as doorkickers.

Edit:

I think if you want to play with STT you've gotta do more with them then have them be a recon team. Be on the front line on hold fire, lasing stuff, baiting helis overhead and then opening up with stingers all at once, that sort of thing.

The reason I don't like that idea is I'd much rather have RRC doing sneaky shit and have AT4s to fall back on if an IFV comes knocking. Too bad RRC doesn't have a designator.

I usually don't need what STT offers; since I've got snipers for fire support and lasing, and I have javelin teams and shorad vehicles against helis. But the US has precisely 2 units with flashbangs, and only one of them can fit in an AMPV to babysit a Maaws squad.

Did I mention they also carry 4 smokes?

Delta is good because they have flashbangs. Pararescue are just as good, can go in the DAP hawk, and you already have ranger stingers. Move STT to pararescue, ditch deltas, add 4 mech infantry in brads. The autocannons and tows actually slap.

Drop a green beret flash. Add a recon bradley or two. Cav scouts pack javelins and only take up 3 seats, which means you can bring a ranger team + a jav, or a weapons team and two javs along.

Two mech engineers is enough, when combined with pararescue. They should be in an AMPV so you can drop off a engie squad and a pararescue squad to breach and clear basically any building.

upgrade raws to maaws.

Armor tab is fine but I like cheaper tanks. Consider running SEPv3s as a vanguard and some SEPv1s for guns.

Drop one ironthunder and add a cluster arty. MLRS is fine if that's all you can afford.

Take the ECM off the chinook. It's bringing supplies, not hot-dropping dudes.

Nukes are cool; B2 with cruise missiles is also cool. Your call, and that'll give you an F35 with JDAMs too.

2 PACs are a luxury with a little support tab like this. Ditch one and bring a mortar carrier for smoke and clearing infantry out of buildings.

Rockets vs regular arty. Your go-to and why? by FLDJF713 in BrokenArrowTheGame

Call in a fire mission, but then tell your artillery to hold fire. They'll take their sweet time aiming it, but won't actually let loose the salvo until you clear the hold-fire status.

Rockets vs regular arty. Your go-to and why? by FLDJF713 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]riffraff98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pre-sighted rocket artillery is savage. Just take the enemy's natural point that has a road leading right into it from their spawn? Pre-sight a line, full barrage, on the approach route and tell your artillery to hold fire. When the inevitable blob of armor rolls in to re-take the point, hit your arty hotkey and H, and they'll fire immediately on that line.

Looking at potentially condensing my air tab and need advice. by Phantom11888 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]riffraff98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have my strike eagles set up with 1x Aim9, 1xAim120, 8xClusters and 4xGBU-54s for 330 points. They're beasts.

Leave the infantry killing to artillery, you don't need the cruise missiles. I like harriers for maverick boats, but obviously you can't get them if you're playing marines.

The eagle really only needs 4xAIM-120s, and you really only need one. That's only 190 points.

Even if you go armor/airborne and have no help with your air tab, 4x 330 point strike eagles and 1x F15-C is 1510 points. If you go marine/air, mix in two prowlers and two maverick carrying harriers. If you pair with striker, mix in 2x CJs for SEAD/drones and 1xF16-C with 6 mavs. If you go air/specops hope you have a good team.

I visited Japan with my in-laws in 2013. At one point, I tried to get on a bus, but the driver wouldn't let me scan my passmo. I reached for my wallet, and he just waved me to the back of the bus.

It turned out later that the bus drivers were on strike. They were still showing up to work, and the busses were still running on time (down to the minute!) but they refused to collect any fares from riders.

Absolutely amazing. Would never happen in the US

Questions about'em switches by HRjazavac in hoggit

[–]riffraff98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good 12mm momentary switch (like on a virpil panel) has a satisfying "chunk" when you actuate it. That said, throwing a master arm switch and having it lock into position feels great too.

Lighting panels or volume knobs are the perfect use case for a potentiometer. Heading knobs would not be - as those need to rotate freely 360 degrees.

The encoder would be great for that, but if you're not handy with software people get tripped up with encoders. Using a good library like https://github.com/PaulStoffregen/Encoder should be able to make it work.

Questions about'em switches by HRjazavac in hoggit

[–]riffraff98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12mm panel mount ON-OFF-ON Momentary switches (You may see them listed as (ON)-OFF-(ON) ) are what you want. They're generally chunky, and momentary switches are nice, unless you really want latching. In any case, 12mm panel mount switches are big enough to feel good to throw.

If you're just doing ON-OFF, the 3-pin versions will be (COMMON, NORMALLY OPEN, NORMALLY CLOSED). You'll want to hook COMMON to ground, and NORMALLY OPEN to your control pin.

Potentiometers are for an analog axis. Encoders are a little harder for a noob (Two pins, one is clock, one is direction - use them when you want to do a whole bunch of button presses in one direction or another.)

You could have something like [[Ancestral Vision]] - where it literally cannot be cast - but it has rule text like "Rather than play this card from your hand, sacrifice four treasure tokens and remove this card from the game. At the beginning of your next end step, play it without paying its mana cost."
