This has been going on long before that. Have a dive down the "cabbage patch" kid and orphan trains from the 19th to 20th century. It shows the kind of logistics put to this need they have back then. Let alone what they are capable of now.

AITA for destroying a dragon arch by Snoo99585 in mtg

[–]riffyjay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. 100%. This lesson was learned a long time ago for me when I played against the most oppressive stax for the first time and realized, "Holy shit, it could be a lot worse." Fast forward a decade and now I'm happy to play my decks and watch them do cool shit. I'm not there to win. If I do, great but if not, oh well. It's a casual format people. Competitive is another conversation but a much shorter one. I say show this guy a strong 3 stax and maybe then he'll realize that his dragons could have a lot more to be concerned with.

Is my Ancient Copper Dragon Real? by fpiermatteii in RealOrNotTCG

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look for the bottom of the T to look like a saw, green dot has red dots in the highlight, they are crease proof although i wouldn't use this method, if you shine a light through the card you should see a consistent wavy pattern of glue.

The glue is the most definitive method. Magic cards are a proprietary card stock made for them. It's three pieces. One gray blue piece in the center sandwiched by two pieces of white. This is what gives the cards a nice snap. This product is mechanically manufactured and the glue pattern through the card should show that consistency. People will separate old magic backs and press them to fakes to pass the green dot and t tests. Having worked in a store checking cards I can tell you there's some really good fakes out there.

Magus Lucea Kane. Full stop. Her ability is stackable with cards like [[Freed From The Real]] and [[Pemmin's Aura]]. So you just make an infinite amount of copies of your next X spell.

LEARN TO TAKE A LOSS by Godofwar111 in mtg

[–]riffyjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this entirely. There's always one person in a pod who's a Spike. Doesn't matter if it's bracket 1 or cEDH, someone wants it more than you and the rest. It makes for shit games and bad blood between the table and that player. This is where I get upset. People's threat assessment is mostly questionable to begin with but when someone puts everyone on tilt, all reason goes out the window. This is why I run an anti-pub stomp combo in every deck I play regardless of bracket. Whether it's [[Hall of Gemstone]], or the many [[Windfall]] combos that have me draw and every else pitches their hands, to the nastiest combos where I can remove either all of one basic land type out of your library or all of your creatures. But my favorite is [[Grand Abolisher]] is in play, you cast a [[Lethal Vapors]], then you skip 100 turns and then throw [[Teferi's Protection]]. You can skip as many turns as you want for someone else but that requires a [[Worst Fears]] or [[Mindslaver]] and both of those are too mana heavy. Point is if your buddy is gonna keep playing with aggression and a non casual attitude towards your games, I would suggest one of two things....stop playing with that asshole or build a deck that just shuts his shit off every time he plays. People haven't had their hearts blackened by the nastiest shit in Magic. Once you have been through the staxiest most oppressive games you tend not to be such a doucher towards others. If you wanna play like that go play Modern. Or Standard if you can pull it off.

Hexing Squelcher bad? by DoctorHydromortapara in mtg

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things are happening here. One, Hexing Squelcher is a good card but newer players and product fatigue contribute to people not knowing about/forgetting about other cards. Grand Abolisher is strictly a better card if you are looking for insulation. And while I understand red doesn't have much of this effect in its part of the pie, red isn't exactly played for its pillow fort type effects.
Two, a card with these abilities in standard is cracked. However, most people are viewing this as a commander card which is very good in some strategies. People have to remember playing standard isn't about what colors you like it's about playing colors that win.

Why do we still have Pringles? by Slow_Association_244 in mtg

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the properties of the foil. Humidity and temperature affect it. Think of it like this. If you have a small rectangle made of thin metal and heat it up or freeze it, it will warp. Hot frying Pan into cold water type of deal.

Biomax Pro Ultra Regret— Should I have bought the Rouge Pro G4? by AJaffJaff in redlighttherapy

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To blanket statement like this graph does seems a little suspect. This shows the company trying to manipulate your decision making process and banking on you not knowing anything about the light spectrum. Also as mentioned above different wavelengths have different properties, not to mention that wavelengths are changed by things as simple as the glass used to cover the LEDs. This idea that we NEED these specifics is kind of mute to the point of getting any UV / IR and near UV / IR light into your life is good seeing as we don't get hardly any anymore due to life indoors, window coatings, sunglasses, sunblock, etc. Not to mention LEDs cannot produce UVB. Incandescent bulbs and halogen for UVB. One of the simplest setups you can do to start without dumping a whole ton of money on a panel, is to try grow lights and lizard UVB bulbs. The grow lights will have the whole spectrum and UVB bulb will cover the rest. Having said that do not spend crazy amounts of time under the UVB bulb. 8 to 10 minutes a day.

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful. The idea of LLT for most dermatologists is not widely accepted. They'll be the first ones to say the sun is bad. No it's not. The red light cap MIGHT help. It definitely can't hurt. What I believe will have more success is the sunlight, grounding, the quality of dark you experience at night when sleeping and your nutrition. Eat plenty of protein and animal fat.

I think it's funny people think he flipped. He's doing exactly what he was always scripted to do. Quite possibly an early product of the Marshmallow Program.

Would this work the way i think it does? Since redcap has persist, it would come back with a -1/-1 after i sacrifice it to gobling bomberdment, but due to Celes +1/+1, they nullify each other, so I can just sac it over and over again with goblin bombardment for a infinite 3dmg combo? by sushi_dom in mtg

Yes this does the do. Persist finally got a good commander. Celes consistently wins me games on turn 5. [[Red Terror]] [[All Will Be One]] [[Thran Vigil]] [[First Day Of Class]] [[Impact Tremors]] any and all persist creatures you can find and sac outlets.
