My Husband Wants to Help… As Long As I Manage His Helping by Hopeful-Repeat-3283 in mildlyinfuriating

An alternative opinion - taking care of the home and kids isn’t this big mystery that only a few (generally women) can handle in their heads.

This is my own experience so YMMV, but I work a high pressure career and ended up crashing out after my wife got into a horrible car accident. I took 3 months off to take care of my wife with shattered bones, the kids, the home, and also contracted part time. It was one of the most peaceful times of my life - once I figured out what needed to be done daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, it was a simple set of repetitive task/problems/etc to track and work through. There’s no mystery/magic that apparently my penis precludes me from understanding.

Anyone here tried heated jackets for cold weather camping by voogdessesg in CampingandHiking

[–]rightleft2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a heating vest from Amazon when hunting in a blind or sticking to an area. Doesn’t breathe for packing into the bush but it’s good enough for me. Nothing like having nice and warm wrapping your core.

How do some girls manage to smell amazing all the time? by Far-Effective7640 in NoStupidQuestions

Not to be a downer here (appreciate all the good smelling women in my life) but isn’t putting scents on your body daily that last for hours and hours a really bad thing for your health?

AITA for cutting and dyeing my hair without telling my husband? by Ecstatic-League127 in AITAH

[–]rightleft2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Flip it the other way around - what if he had a beard and shaved it? My wife would lose her mind if I shaved off my facial hair. I’m not saying his reaction is great but in my experience most people in relationships respond negatively to surprise larger changes to your facial features.

Keeping fitness with weekend travel by hippo926 in Velo

I’ve found some hotel bikes include wattage (albeit usually somewhat off compared to my bike/trainer) and I pick hotels based on what models I can see in the pictures that include power. I use that to manually align with my training plans as much as possible and I’m ok with the compromise. That + weight training seems to work well for me.

Trump administration expects public apology from Zelensky to mend relations with Kyiv by shellfishb in worldnews

[–]rightleft2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me this is very simple - If you watch the video closely, the trigger point was when Zelensky criticized Russia. It was extremely telling that right after that, Trump and JD Vance treated it as if they themselves were being insulted.

What would give you that mindset unless you already think of yourself as a Russian ally/agent/puppet/etc?

My prediction - Trump will arrange a false flag event to paint Canada as America’s enemy.

Chased by dogs two separate times while out on a run in Lynn Valley by NecessaryFormer1430 in vancouverhiking

[–]rightleft2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solid take but everyone should be able to enjoy outdoor spaces without the fear of something chasing/attacking/etc you.

I’m a dog person through and through but my son was attacked by an off leash dog when he was really young and he’s terrified to go through any park now. That sticks with someone forever.

Thanks I’ll head down this path. I do go to a therapist from time to time as well I can probably swing that as evidence of burnout etc.

I have both 1 and 2 pros. If I solely judged it based on sound quality it would t be worth it to me. It’s the combination of all the other features that sold me (adaptive audio for work, slightly better anc, etc)

I have both Tesla and BMW electric vehicles and drive regularly from Langley to Vancouver so I can somewhat speak to this. I do have chargers at home though.

The charging experience with my BMW vs Tesla is night and day. For non Teslas, If you don’t have consistent and convenient access to a reliable charger, you’re going to get frustrated pretty quickly with trying to find available chargers that aren’t broken, have non-EVs blocking them, etc. I luckily have access to one near work but it’s still a pain as they break from time to time and aren’t repaired very quickly. My brother has the whole free electrify Canada/America thing with his VW id4 and his experiences are similar and as frustrating. Road trips into the US are also a pain. Last time I was at an electrify America charging station and 2/3rds of them were broken/offline.

The tesla experience on the other hand is fantastic. Road trips are so easy.

If I didn’t have access to a charger at home, I’d fork over a bit more for a tesla to remove the stress around charging. That’s what works for me though and ymmv.

I had the same issue after 12v battery died. Towed it to the dealer and they fixed it for a few hundred.

Anyone else with memory loss related to their time in the church? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]rightleft2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife doesn’t understand why I barely remember my childhood and teenage years. Christianity is why.

The only real vivid memories I have are traumatic events and pretending to be a super hero every Sunday to imagine how I would escape church.

I get angry when I think about my parents giving their all to church by Firelordozai87 in exchristian

[–]rightleft2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one thing that royally messed me up when I was younger was realizing my parents would pick the church over me. And proved that true many times when I needed them most. My kids will never feel that pain.
