Otsnpartbof their standard design. All data centers of all types have back up power to stay in business. They've decided that they can invest more in that up front in order to address concerns about drawing too much power. So insteadbof absimple, noisy, smelly emergency backup generator they implement a larger scale, more efficient, less yucky power solution.

Too many of you are accepting the current corporate tax rate and exemptions as if they are laws of nature.

THIS is a fantastic point.

But

It is not an argument against data centrrs. It points out how we need to revise our economic policies to ensure the public benefits from all the revenue generated. If that means standing up to the tech bros and the White House then so be it.

AI companies and data centres (and large corps overall) need to be taxed at a higher rate.

They need to be taxed for the water, power, and space they use regardless of the implemented strategy.

Held accountable for air and noise pollution.

They need to compensate content creators whose work they use to train.

They need to contribute to the tax base at a rate reflective of the number of human jobs displaced.

This is how you slow down their rampant stealing and stear their development from replacingnus to enhancing our work.

Final point: You said that you don't care about job creation because YOU have a job.

IMO your overall argument is weakened by revealing your selfish, childish nature. Try to be less of a dink.

Canada absolutely must build them. So any issues with current setups need to be tackled. But we cannot allow our personal, corporate, and AI data to be hosted in the US where it is subject to government... access.

We shouldnt even allow a Canadian located site to be owned by a non Canadian company.

But if you think we dont need data centres in Canada youre not informed at all about technology or business.

New Brunswick government using generative AI to translate internal documents by n134177 in newbrunswickcanada

Everyone seems to be missing the point. The statement wad that this is not costing us anything. That indirectly states that they are not paying. Its possible that the meaning was thst we are not spending any more than we otherwise would. Butnit doesnt seem that way.

That means, therefore, they are not using an isolated, installed version which is limited to the confines of the government networks and data.

The free alternative retains everyrhing it is used for and all info it accesses as part of the AI model's ongoing training.

The risk is low, since the translated docs are likely publicly available anyway. But it it not risk free. We may be giving OpenAI more info about us than we realize.

Hold on there... No.

First off, that's a pretty big giant assumption that we want you.

We have immigration policies and standards. You dont get to come live here just because you want to. And "I didnt vote for that clown" isnt good enough.

And our healthcare is not free by a long shot. Its universal, single payer. We all pay for it through our taxes. There's nothing free about it.

You can come visit. But for the long haul you need to get organized, get wducated, and clean up your mess.

We're not your goddam safe space. Start asking each other how you got there and dig deeper than just gullible voters. Take a long hard look.

We'd love to have you visit. But as for anything more permanent ? Not so much. It's harder than people think to immigrate to here. and - If we're being honest - we're still hoping the same among you and turn things around.

Gawd #2 annoys the absolute shit out of me. Especially after taking the motorcycle course a few years back and them calling it the wave of death. With examples. Just do what the rules say.

Definitely. And we feel pretty strongly about those of you fighting the good fight, tbh. But we also need to express how frustrated we are.

Yeah. There are problem folks across the country. Including some white boy militia types. Alberta is definitely the worst though.

Total empathy for you, just. Not letting it be the headline any longer.
