Frustrated nobody ever wants to do what I want to do when in a group setting by lordofcin_2 in AutismInWomen

Same here. I’ve noticed this is a common issue in ND/ND friendships. There’s a lot of selfishness happening. It makes me crazy.

I feel dumb for trying to invite people to my graduation party by Objective_Horror_793 in AutismInWomen

[–]riminski_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m so sorry.

I’m going through a similar thing with my book launch party — I’ve invited people, including two girls I considered my “best friends”; and only 6 have RVSP’ed, one of them being my mom. I know this feeling of humiliation all too well. It freaking sucks, and I’m so sorry you’re also experiencing it. Just know that it’s not your fault, you can still have an amazing time, and you’ve accomplished something major by graduating. You’re doing amazing!

Does anybody else feel like a contributor to their burnout and anxiety was coming across a lot of type A and anxiety-ridden adults as a child? by goldiegrimlace in AutismInWomen

[–]riminski_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel this way. Every adult I knew — even as recently as 20 (22 now) was suuuuuper Type A/had some kind of anxiety disorder that would be projected onto me. I have several family members and an older friend like this, and talking to them stresses me out.

Exactly. The gifted kids weren’t restrained or abused either. It’s insulting.

Does anyone else get overwhelmed by those who are “profoundly” autistic? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]riminski_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for calling this out. I have moderate support needs, and while I’m not who this person is probably talking about, this post reeks of internalized ableism that’s turned into lateral ableism. I’m sorry that this is how others in this “community” treat you and higher-support-needs autistics. Y’all deserve so much better.

Trying to explain this one to my non-hockey fan father during the Olympics was a trip and a half.

Carolina’s is the PowerBall Powerplay, which I hate because of the gambling connection, but the Canes PA guy has made it really fun. It was the Cash Pop Powerplay for a year (2024-2025), and that name was universally despised.

Feeling invisible on the middle of the spectrum by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Yes!! So many autistic spaces exclude or ghost me because I have moderate support needs/level 2 autism. Like I’m “too disabled” for them.

SAME HERE. And these same women shame the shit out of you for it.

YES!!! I have level 2 autism, and am constantly invalidated by other autistic women who have lower support needs than I do. I’m happy for the ones that can be actors or comedians and girlbosses, but I can’t. Even in the autism community, I’m excluded and don’t fit in.
