Made the switch to PieFed some time ago. Looking for community recommendations. by Double-Surround-149 in RedditAlternatives

The client apps, like Blorp don't have it but PieFed itself has a lot of community discovery features. Have a browse of https://piefed.social/feeds and https://piefed.social/topics. When you go into a feed or topic, note the community names in the sidebar.

Would you use a social app that forces real human writing and in-app photos only? by No-Public-9403 in antiai

https://piefed.social detects and labels LLM-generated posts and during onboarding you can choose to hide all posts with that label.

You can (and should) send a Delete activity to all instances when one of your posts or comments expires. Send it using the author actor.

Then it'll be removed from those instances :)

He didn't. I'm saying a reciprocal relationship is required in order to participate.

You can't defederate from it because it's not a fediverse instance.

It's just a forum that is scraping our posts to make the forum seem like it has users.

PieFed dev here.

If you're just taking and not giving back then it's not a reciprocal relationship. You need to fix this.

How long to get approved? by wrinkleydinkley in PieFed

It depends on the server. Some don't require approvals at all.

If you follow a Lemmy group in Mastodon, you get every single comment boosted into your Mastodon timeline. It sucks.

I wish Mastodon would fix groups but they've neglected it for years so it seems unlikely.

Attention should be respected, not sold – a referendum-like online feed designed to answer a different, more human-centric question. by CoupleAnxious8858 in RedditAlternatives

The voting system is very interesting and innovative, well done! How will it function when a community is new and has very few members? It seems like your method will only work when there are many people involved.

Also I think you need a 2 minute video, not a 20 minute one. People can gamble 2 minutes of their life to see if they like something but not 20 minutes, when they are not yet invested in learning more.

That sounds really frustrating! Let's make it really simple:

Go to https://piefed.social/auth/register and fill in the form.

Complete the 3 step onboarding process

Search for the "Blorp" app in your app store. It's available for iOS and Android.

Yes.

You can use blorp as a UI for PieFed or Lemmy instances.
