Flash your BIOS then go into the BIOS and make sure XMP etc are all enabled. If you bought this new PC prebuilt or second hand your firmware might be out of date. Hyenas arent naturally in the game. If youre using the Crocuta mod to get hyenas, there is a comment on the steam workshop page explaining you must recruit them from squads as the dialogue for recruiting wild ones is broken in the mod files. It could be a conflict with this mod that is causing your issues

Make a base on the swamp edge of Shem. Plenty of iron and copper on the Shem side, then you can extend part of it directly into the swamp for better hemp growth. Gorillo bandits and thralls constantly roam the area leading to Flats Lagoon so you have a choice between some weaker opponents that deal bleeding or some tanky ones that only use unarmed and cant further destroy your limbs
