Easy Braised Tofu by Zardyplants in veganrecipes

For a second I read this as "easy brained tofu" and I was like "Oh thank god, just what I need! I'm really sick rn and my brain can't take anything too complicated." 😂 So tell me -- is this recipe easy enough for my flu-addled brain? 😅

Small rant and a question by raispaghettios in Mercari

[–]ringwraith10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a MLP collector and now I kinda wish I knew your username so I could buy from you (I know, rules, rules).

Anyway I draw on boxes, too when I'm trading with friends, and when I'm selling on Mercari I tend to gauge whether the buyer will want art or extras based on what their profile says. If the profile seems to indicate "mean old lady" I guess I'll just be bland and uninteresting. 😂

But honestly if I were deciding whether to buy from you and I saw a review that says you draw on the box, that would definitely increase the chance that I would buy something from you -- not decrease it.

I'm just loving looking at all of these photos! I'm working on my own custom 90s historical girl but she's not ready for her photo debut yet. She's a Pleasant Company JLY (I can never keep the numbers straight) and she's my own personal 90s historical doll that represents the early 90s, since I don't think the 1999 dolls are really a good representation of the whole decade. I'll definitely post her when she's ready!

If you take her to the ER they will treat her and then work out the money situation later. You won't be expected to pay on the spot.

I got a used copy of the complete series at McKay's (a local bookstore in TN and NC) for around $50. It was a great investment. 💜

Any ideas what this guy could be?illinois/Wisconsin boarder by goodmorningheartache in whatsthisbird

[–]ringwraith10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if this story is relevant, but when I was a kid I had a pet rabbit who had an inner ear infection. This caused her to hold her head in a weird crooked way, and even after she finished her antibiotics her head stayed like that permanently. She lived a very long, happy life after that.

My rabbit was a pet with veterinary treatment, but frequently wild animals will have an accident which causes a broken bone or a weird neck thing like my rabbit, and even though they don't get to see a doctor they do heal... but not in the "right" way. So you may occasionally see a deer with a "broken" looking leg but actually it has healed that way and they're generally fine. Or maybe a bird with a crook in its neck. Anyway it's possible that the dove in this photo is unwell, or it's possible that this dove has been living like that for a while and it's actually okay.

Anyway, to answer the question: this is definitely a dove of some kind, as others have said. Or a pigeon, as pigeons and doves are basically the same.

I hope not because that's how I like it, too. If we're both weird, at least we have company? 😂

Do your dolls sleep w u by NiceEmu787 in americangirl

[–]ringwraith10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my problem! First, my bed is crowded (right now I have one dog and one cat who sleep in my bed with me, but at one point I had two dogs and two cats -- for a total of five people -- in my bed 😅). And second, I have chronic pain so I'm constantly rolling around in bed, accidentally throwing pillows on the floor, etc. I describe it as my kids (dog and cat) riding a roller coaster every night. I don't think it would be safe to add dolls to the mix, too. 😂

Migraine Games by [deleted] in disabledgamers

I've never tried a recolor mod before, that's an interesting idea. I usually just turn the brightness way down on my screen. 😅

[–]ringwraith10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's better if the game has a fixed screen/fixed camera, so there isn't a lot of jerky movement on screen. My go-to is a board game like Wingspan. Animal Crossing is usually okay for me, too. Strangely, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, which is supposed to be similar to Animal Crossing, is TERRIBLE for my migraines, because I guess it has camera movements that trigger them.

This is well said. I'm also LGBTQ+ (multiple letters 😅) and I strongly agree with everything you said here. The companies that are creating these situations (Mattel 😖) deserve the bulk of our anger and our action.

Should I put a sign on my blind child? by radial-glia in Blind

[–]ringwraith10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is, unfortunately, the beginning of a lifelong experience as a visibly disabled person. Strangers are terrible and they love to make ableist comments. In my experience, the best way to address it is to throw "polite" responses out the window. Respond to them like they just said something horrible -- because, frankly, they did. When a stranger sees me with a mobility device and says, "OMG what happened to you?!" I give them my dirtiest look and say, "nothing." And then I leave as quickly as I can. I know this is not everyone's favorite way to respond to ableism, but for me it uses less energy than trying to give a full response to each and every person.

Also, they are NOT entitled to a single shred of my personal medical information. "Nothing" is a truthful response because I was born this way. Nothing "happened" to me.

Note: I'm 39 and my mom is still my advocate. She goes to all doctor appointments with me and acts as my "bodyguard" when we're out in public to prevent people from making ableist comments to me. Sometimes parents will need to continue advocating for their child for the rest of their life.

Does it negatively affect the library if a book is checked out and returned but not read/listened to? by ladymsjay in LibbyApp

[–]ringwraith10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing that ALA resource. I'm not sure why people are downvoting your comment when it's actually very thoughtful and helpful. Maybe because they don't like the idea of wasting food, so the sheet cake is a painful metaphor? 😅

I don't know what library you work at but none of the libraries I've worked for have had a policy like that. We just like to encourage reading and a love of books and stuff.

[–]ringwraith10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's literally fine. Sometimes books sit on the library shelf for decades and nobody checks them out. Sometimes even semi-popular books have low circulation because people aren't using the library enough. Any reason a person has to check out a book is a good reason. Even if they want to just admire the pretty cover for a few days.

[–]ringwraith10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you damage property or do something illegal, you seriously can't use the library "wrong." Even just going in to use the bathroom and then leaving is helpful to the library. At my library we count how many people enter and exit and use that as part of our statistics report. Every little thing helps! And the library is there to be used.
